This is where Terry's deep pockets come into play
- Deuce81

he'd have to pay him like babcock. Kreuger's role is chairman which i imagine gets him some decent coin.

Think the only way it happens is if he just wants back into the hockey world.

Who knows anything about Todd Reirden?

Edit: I know he spent time with the Pens and Caps recently and is a defensively minded coach. Is he good, bad or ugly though...haven't heard of him before.

Hahaha. Of course.

Was just reading a headline about him...I guess he doesn't want Trump supporters at his shows anymore. I'm not sure the NHL would allow for such things.

I'm all for people expressing themselves, and I understand if he was bummed out, but he's really taking a shot at Buffalo. Seems kind of unnecessary. It's not like he was doing what he was paid for.

you wanna talk about getting screwed,

Lakers made a trade 5 years ago that could potentially crush their rebuild

They won 5 of their last 6 games putting them out of the bottom 3. Significant because if they dont win one of the top 3 spots, that pick goes to the 76ers, the once upon a time laughing stock of the nba.

Pretty much exactly what I came up with as well. But, as I'm sure most of us have concluded, this is where JB needs to really push for a trade...with the Ducks being the obvious choice. That 3rd spot on defense? If we're looking at protecting Taylor Fedun, no offense to Taylor Fedun...who I really like and thought he got a raw deal last year (and yes...I agree...he's probably a player that would fit in JB's defensive plans) but a player like Sami Vatanen would be easier to stomach in that 3rd spot. To do so, you might have to give up a combination of prospects (that don't need protecting) and picks...but for a mobile puck-moving defenseman...it's worth it. I'm excited to see what Botterill does, given he has no ties to this roster...but can come in fresh eyes.

What would u give up for Vatanen? He's definitely not worth the 8th overall IMHO.

The problem with moulson at even 8-10 minutes a night is that gets us ROR playing 25 which burns him out. We need far more balance in both time and point production. ROR is always going to play a lot, but he needs to be around 20

As for Bogo, with the righties we have now, maybe he can be third pair playing 12-15 a night

- jcragcrumple

That's one reason I want Sam moved back to center
With 3 legit lines, O'Reilly's icetime should go down a bit
And if the 4th line is something like Bailey-Larsson-Baptiste,
Then we should be able to roll them out there with confidence as well
And if Bailey & Baptiste produce to the point where they're moved up,
then Foligno & Girgensons can be moved down and that's still a solid line4

I love the list Mr. Pachla.

Instead of Fedun though I'd probably trade for a defenseman and protect him. That's about all I'd change.

Even if we did lose Lehner I think Ullmark could do just as well if not better and losing a Lehner would help us in signing cal petersen.

So far Reinhart has sucked at center in the NHL so I wouldn't really bank on him being our 3rd center. Larsson is a good center. Put Baptiste and Bailey with him I think you'll see a pretty solid third line.

I'm putting Foligno on the 4th with whatever is remaining lol.

Here is the hard truth:

Eichel needs to sign and it will be a big contract.
Reinhart also needs to sign and will command 4m per year, ( say deal him and let someone else pay his pro contract)
Rodrigues may pan out this year and will need to be signed

If by some miracle we could free up Moulson, Ennis, Bogos, salaries, keep Gionta on the cheap and I mean very cheap, and use our extra 2nd and 3rd we have in this draft as trade bait, we might just land the Dman (or Dmen) and winger we need. I have a feeling GMTM would have made a big splash at the draft this year. It will be interesting to see what we do under more of a chess player.

- lulags

We'd likely need to use our draft picks to get rid of all those bad contracts
If we can get rid of just 1 of them to Vegas, that'll be a good help
Ennis is the one most likely to have a good season imo,
So I'd see if Vegas has any interest at all in Moulson or Bogo...
and what it would take to get them to take one

Might take a 2nd AND another pick to do it (3rd? 4th? Tough to guess)

You're judging Reinhart at center after what, 20 games played there?
Especially when he had a rough year overall last season...
He's a playmaker who was drafted #2 overall
Sam can play center just fine... especially on the 3rd line
Larsson is ok, but not as good as Sam
And Reinhart will distribute the puck MUCH better to whatever wingers we put on that line, making them more effective

There's really no need for Gionta here. He did his part in helping this team through the rebuild now it's time for a new direction. If it were up to me all UFA's would be out the door July 1st without hesitation.

Can't really call JB a "chess player." We really haven't actually seen him be a GM yet.

1 out of 3 or 4 playoff games is determined by who wins the special teams

you watch any decent pregame hockey show, their keys to the game, special teams always appears

this notion that pp's don't mean much is so off base

and the flip side to moulson, with a competent coach, there is a chance he performs much better
the notion he can't repeat is crazy because he has great hands and a knack for being in the right place at the right time

do I love the guy, no

but if people are going to give

reinhart a pass due to coach
girgens a pass due to coach
ennis a pass due to coach
etc etc etc

I think a player with 176 nhl goals and 124 points on the pp should get that same pass

- homiedclown

Those guys u mention are all on the young side though
Not hard to imagine them bouncing back or improving
Moulson has just lost a step & was average to begin with
I don't hate him or anything, but he's clearly on the decline
Also, he's going to get a lot less PP time this year
Many of those goals he scored when Jack & Kane & Oreilly were hurt
I wanna say it was like 6 or 7 of his PP goals were scored early
He won't sniff PP1 this year

Ville Leino was a piece of sh!t who was routinely hammered downtown...
I've served him before on multiple occasions
He'd get so drunk he'd harass girls & grab them inappropriately to the point where he was kicked out of & banned from the place I worked
And I know of at least 2 other places where the same thing happened

Simmer dude. It's just my opinion as to what I've seen so far from him. Am I saying he's going to be like that for the entirety of his career? Nope. But as of now he hasn't performed well at center. For him being a top 2 pick I'd expect him to be much better at the position he was drafted in at this point. Also his skating is not that great for a center.

Third line center Larsson would be better. Just because of his attributes compared to Reino. Reino would def be better if we could roll 3 lines but I just don't see us doing that for the upcoming season.
