IIHF streams the game live on youtube but with some geo blocking depending on where you live.

I use the Opera browser that has a built in VPN and set my location to Singapore, works perfectly.

- underhill14

How does that work though?

The Browser is running local on my computer, but my home network still has a Rogers IP ? I don't get how a browser-based VPN works?

VPN routs all traffic from your home (or in this case, Opera browser) through a proxy server that geolocates elsewhere, making it appear as though your connection is originating whereever the proxy server is located.

I think Tanev on the Leafs makes sense but it's the return to Vancouver most seem not to agree about.

Vancouver fans expect good assets coming back while many here are only willing to give away spare parts 4th rounders.

- Scabeh

Even you have fallen into the trap.

The poor suggestions that have been questioned are the ones where the Canucks fans suggest a VERY valuable asset like Nylander. The Leafs fans suggestions have included players like Carrick or even Kapanen and a low pick and I am not sure Vancouver gets more than that for Tanev. Their return will be good... but nowhere near the level of Nylander

I think that's obvious at that point.

I guess what I am saying is that my laptop my be sending stuff with whatever IP address, but it still has to go through my router which has my actual network information.

How does Opera over-ride what my router sends out or does all the packet information originate from my laptop?

I think the offer the other day of Carrick, Leipsic and a 3rd or 4th was beat down pretty good by some but given that he has been injured every season since 2013 most aren't willing to offer more and for good reason.

By using a VPN in Opera, you're instructing your computer to send information to a specific proxy server before it reaches the wider internet.

Normally:

Laptop>Router>Modem>Internet

Proxy:

Laptop>Router>Modem>Proxy>Internet

The proxy server used for VPNs doesn't allow anything external from it to view the network connections being established from the user, so to the internet it looks like your connection is originating at the proxy server.

Typically, packets don't contain information like originating ip address.

This betrays how little I know about networks.

Any torrent clients that have a built in VPN? Anyone tried one?

Don't know of any myself.

Typically you can get VPN software that will rout all computer traffic through the VPN, which costs monthly.

Opera is special because it's free, but only browser traffic goes through the VPN.

Conversely... any browser based torrent clients.

Truth is I download very little these days because I use Kodi, and when I do download, I use the usenet, but every once in a while I want to grab a torrent but I don't want to fork out for a VPN for those rare occasions

I doubt there is one Vancouver fan who would honestly not make that trade.

I realize this may be an overly optimistic viewpoint.

Somewhat related Kodi question:

Can I run Kodi off of a tablet, and then just throw it on the TV with Google Chrome?

If so, what's the best movie/tv show app these days for Kodi?

Thanks in advance.

Not sure if you're able to run Kodi without rooting your Android tablet, though theoretically it's possible.

Google it!

Also, my guess is you'd use Google Home to cast to your Android TV or chromecast rather than Google Chrome... Since Kodi is a stand alone app.

In my experience, the video isn't exactly hiccup or lag free though.

If your tablet has HDMI capabilites, you can.
I think it's called an MHL to HDMI adapter

Or maybe your tablet has to be MHL capable, something like that.

Also, a deal could be in place for McPhee to take someone like Eric Fehr, or Ben Smith in the expansion draft. Send them the OTT #2 to coerce McPhee to take one of those guys.

- Climuster

The timing of the Fehr acquisition is just too coincidental...Vegas was granted the go ahead to conduct business around 1:00PM on trade deadline day, and Eric Fehr was acquired in a seemingly redundant move less than two hours later. Wink wink, nudge nudge.
