You kill a fanbase, a franchise and essentially restart all the goodwill and work they'd have done.

Are they going to make Chicago trade off Kane because a one year or two year charge because of Hossa or Seabrook? Detroit is going to have to sell off assets because of Zetterberg?

I just don't see the league actually pressing on this, especially since now they have the contract year cap. They're already basically letting NJ off the hook this summer for Kovalchuk.

That's pretty much it. Those teams will get same treatment they have gotten. Just like with supensions and players safety decisions. NHL knows who to make an example of and when. An established NHL and grass roots hockey market that has no other major sports competitor is always best. Know of any?!?

I think he's a twat but he did nothing wrong. Guys has collectively bargained rights, entered into a contract bargained in good faith with the franchise, took under market value for his services and then played his hand to get what he wanted.

Every player that leaves a team or is rumoured to be traded always has "character issues". Funny how it works that way

And before this goes too far the same ignorant path we have seen before. He gave the Canucks at least 3 teams that were confirmed. Chicago, Pittsburgh and Anaheim. For all we know there were others but at the end of the day it doesn't matter because he had a full NTC which he used as per his right.

Ondrej Käse of the ducks was ranked 8th in Euro rankings in his draft. He went 205.

Glass is currently 6th in NA rankings. Adding in Liljegren, Heiskanen, Pettersson could be ahead of him. Makar is also ranked behind him and many think that he will go before 8th. Necas.

Tons of variables.

Because you have unbridled love for a player doesn't mean that the GM's do.

I had Chychrun last year at 8 in my draft. I'm sure quite a few teams are kicking themselves now but still.
