What more are you expecting from a shut down 3C ? 17 G 34 pt

Maybe your expectations are a little high?

I think that goes back to the fact he's not being used as a S/D third line center. He's being used and paid like a second line center.

Anyway, this topic has been beaten to death and it's clear that no one is convincing the other side to think differently.

For those that are listing to 1040, have any of the Linden fanboys/media shills been hyping up specific draft prospects? Could be a clue as to who the team is interested in.

He didn't actually, he had the second most TOI, and averaged the second most minutes per game.....for forwards of course.

By the end of the year horvat was playing first line, hank second line ands Sutter third line. Yes Sutter plays all the pk minutes but I'd rather him do that.

6 years of LE
3 years of Markstrom
2 (?) years of Dorsett
30 years of Luongo

these are far more troubling than Sutter contract, at least he's a serviceable NHL player

- Crazybagoham

5 years of LE
2 years of Markstrom
2 years of Dorsett
30 years of Luongo

Fixed. LE and Luongo are the only concerning contracts in my opinion

If you guys want a new culture and a team with a stronger backbone, I don't want either of these guys.

Gudbranson, I'm okay with overpaying because he does represent a culture change.

- Nucker101

I believe this team needs EG. He is tough, great in the room and respected around the league. I don't give a frank about any of the other veterans.

I remember when I read that Chris Higgins' own brother said that even Higgins was surprised that the team kept using him as a top 6 forward and on the PP. I doubt even Sutter himself thought he'd be on the 1st PP unit when he was traded here.

I don't think the Sedins are holding him back from PP success

Sutter plays a straight line style offensively, he skates wide and tries to use his shot/speed to create offense, other than that he tries to hang around the net/slot for garbage/fluke goals..he's just not an offensively creative/gifted player and he's not the strongest guy either so he's not some amazing net front presence(Kesler and Burrows were better at that role).

His style is fine for a 3rd liner, that's what he should be limited to. There isn't some hidden untapped offensive potential looming in him that Pittsburgh was hiding.

- Nucker101

I remember some people thought he was going to explode offensively once he didn't have 2 of the best players in the league taking his minutes and offensive zone starts.

we had the perfect opportunity to try him out for a season, but we signed him sight unseen to an extension. Just brutal

It was such stupid logic...Crosby and Malkin have both had multiple injuries and missed time, never did Sutter all of a sudden look much better. If anything, it forced the healthy one out of those 2 guys to go full beast mode because the other lines struggled to score.

I'd be okay with Hartnell, but I sure as hell wouldn't pay more than 1m and wouldn't give him more than a year. We don't need anymore more bottom 6 forwards that have trouble scoring
- Crazybagoham

He had 37 points last season! Playing 12 minutes a game.

Two line mates that are good at possession and exiting the zone. I don't know who that would be on Van.

That's because they were in tank mode and seeing what the younger guys could do, finally! My point is still valid in that IMO you are wrong, he didn't play third line minutes like you suggested. For the majority of the year up to the TDL he was a top six guy at even strength.

At the end of the day it doesn't matter, we all believe Horvat has established himself as the new second line center, perhaps even the first if he can once again built on last year.

Indeed, i'll leave again for awhile. When the Sutter/ Eriksson talk is over perhaps i'll rejoin. This place is depressing and a joke. Sorry Carol Go F yourself Hefty

Same with me . People think I love Sutter. I like him .

I find it stupid we blame Bonino Sutter Eriksson the 3 coaches Bartowski Weber .

41 goal top line . poopty style and soft team . There lies your problem , not your third line center.
