He didn't actually, he had the second most TOI, and averaged the second most minutes per game.....for forwards of course.

Misleading numbers. He is on the PP and gets to touch the puck zero times. Wait until you see Boesers numbers this year now that he will be on the first unit |
|
|
|
He was 4th on the team in minutes per game among forwards(excluding PK mins)
The Canucks roster flat out sucks but I'd at least like to see guys like Horvat/Baerstchi get more minutes than him at ES + PP. - Nucker101
Baertschi is a third liner too on a good team |

Seems like a lot of convenient excuses for Sutter(oh his linemates suck, he's being relied on too much, leadership sucks, etc)....Bonino got ripped here while making less than 2M
And again, Sutter's stat line would look worse if he wasn't on the PP |

He is, but he's better at providing offense than Sutter and deserves more minutes at 5v5 + PP.
Horvat should get more than Sutter and the Sedins.
I hope Green makes these changes. |

He has scored 40 points . I guess that extra assist takes him from the gallows of hell to hockey stardom.
He has also scored 21 twice in his career.
He was Canucks third highest in goals and tied for 5? in scoring . Meanwhile we spent 20 mil on three top line Swedes to produce 41 goals.
Lets blame the third liner. - VANTEL

Sedins aren't signed until 2021 though...I just hate the idea of having Sutter and Eriksson making 10M+ for those many years. Neither of them are leaders and both have looked like role players at best so far.
People are afraid of becoming Edmonton? That's a pretty good start |

I agree Bonino got ripped . This team stinks and it will stink for three more years . I think it is stupid to blame a third line player that has to retrieve pucks for two old men and then gets sh1t on.
Your top line scored 41 goals. How successful do you think your chances are? |

I am sure Green will. Desjardins sent out who he thought was the best player to insulate the old guys.
I am sure the team will build around Horvat this year instead of the twins |

It's a poopty roster. I'm not concerned about next year, to me it's already basically a tank season(although a decent start under Green wouldn't shock me, the new coach effect worked for WD during his first year).
I'm more concerned about 2-4 years from now. I want the youth to be surrounded by the right type of vets. |

I've decided instead of Boucher being resigned. Van is going to sign Scott Hartnell after he is bought out by the Blue Jackets. Tough, good on the defensive side.
New Third line is
Hartnell Sutter Granlund |

I don't think anyones blaming the entire teams lack of success on Sutter, but he does stand out as a too big contract and an overvalued player, that's what the discussion is about |

I like SUtter as a veteran moving forward once the Sedin's are gone. Eriksson was clearly a mistake. The Canucks are in a decent position though. Once the Sedin's are gone the only questionable contracts are Erikson and Sutter. Plenty of teams are far worse off. |

I'd be okay with Hartnell, but I sure as hell wouldn't pay more than 1m and wouldn't give him more than a year. We don't need anymore more bottom 6 forwards that have trouble scoring |

6 years of LE
3 years of Markstrom
2 (?) years of Dorsett
30 years of Luongo
these are far more troubling than Sutter contract, at least he's a serviceable NHL player |

Sutter on the PP was tough to watch.
He had no idea what the hell he was doing.
Guy has tunnel vision, He is so bad at passing and using his line mates in every situation. |

He may stand out to you but to me.I see 20 mil that should be spent on a proper top line. Sorry I think if your top line produces 80 goals not 40 then you get 10 more wins a year. |

Ok fair enough, total average time on ice at even strength he still wasn't playing third line minutes like suggested.
1) Henrik - 15:54
2) Daniel - 15:21
3) Hansen - 14:55
4) Eriksson - 14:46
5) Sutter - 14:19
6) Horvat - 14:16 |

If you guys want a new culture and a team with a stronger backbone, I don't want either of these guys.
Gudbranson, I'm okay with overpaying because he does represent a culture change. |

Sutter should not be on the PP, Eriksson should have been . It is not Sutters fault that a guy that they bring in that scored 31 goals drops off to 11 . It is not Sutters fault that this entire roster sucks |

I remember when I read that Chris Higgins' own brother said that even Higgins was surprised that the team kept using him as a top 6 forward and on the PP. I doubt even Sutter himself thought he'd be on the 1st PP unit when he was traded here.
I don't think the Sedins are holding him back from PP success
Sutter plays a straight line style offensively, he skates wide and tries to use his shot/speed to create offense, other than that he tries to hang around the net/slot for garbage/fluke goals..he's just not an offensively creative/gifted player and he's not the strongest guy either so he's not some amazing net front presence(Kesler and Burrows were better at that role).
His style is fine for a 3rd liner, that's what he should be limited to. There isn't some hidden untapped offensive potential looming in him that Pittsburgh was hiding. |
