Had a tremendous rookie season. Since then had health issues (the cancer diagnosis and treatments), several injuries and the usual learning curve that doesn't end after rookie season. Still think he's a good young D-man.

He has looked overwhelmed at times. Their d has been really banged up. If Letang is out, all the d move up a notch and also play with a weaker partner. He was better then he shows now.
BTW, Shattenkirk plays better than he did in these playoffs.

How does this make any sense?

My guess is that Raffl goes to LV, Laughton is traded, Read is bought out and Leier back in LHV. Since I think Hischier is going to NJ and Patrick to us, here is how I see it shaking out:

TK-Patrick-Simmonds
PEB-Vecchione-Weise or Weal
Spares: Weise or Weal and Cousins

I'd be totally on board with this plan and lineup. I feel like Read would be moveable if we ate half his salary, that way we wouldn't have to spread it out over 2 years. But other than that, sign me up. Solid 4 lines we can roll for the first time in years.
