ek's site is a (frank)ing mess...

some people can't quote on the 1st page

it says its 3pm right now

typing on a phone is impossible on this site, it's slow as (frank)

sometimes you type in a post and it doesn't even go through

my ad blocker says there's 20+ different trackers on this website trying to scoop out your location/recent searches/gender/age

I have to agree with you on this one Lefty. It is more annoying sometimes than our infamous NY poster.

By the way I am a leftwinger open to new ideas and concepts.

Lefty- do you golf at arbutus? An old friend/teammate of mine is/ was golf pro there.

A lot of sound-bits coming out of Washington today. Matty Niskanen sounding off.

Pens are in their heads...I think they've won like 8 or 9 of the last 10 playoff series against them or something insane like that.

Toronto took them for a ride also. They were lucky to play a bad team in the first round. They are chokers.
OV could end up in KHL.

True, although I think they underestimated the Leafs. Leafs are really well coached and have a decent team, just need to improve the defense.

Caps have a really nice roster, they need to re-tool instead of blowing it up. Either way, they're going to lose some good players this summer.

Ovie is definitely not the same player he used to be at 5v5, still an amazing PP weapon though.

A lot of nice pieces there but something is missing. Everyone always blames OV, but it's rarely one mans fault on a 22 man roster. Holtby played poorly, a large reason why they lost.

Essentially that makes him pretty much a first line scorer but 3rd line player.

Morning hate

Not necessarily mocking it, the window has closed for that to work.

I get what you're trying to convey, however for that to work we would need at least one of not two of the top three centers to on their ELC and producing like mcdavid or Matthews or at the least Dr. Dre.

I do agree Edmonton has the three centers like you're advocating, but when they come off their ELC they're going to need to trade at least one of them.

Pushing tanev down is easier because he's got an affordable contract for years to come.

That all goes back to the original convo which was basically 'what's Bo's true value cap share now & moving forward?' I'm saying we can't afford to pay his skillset $5.75-$6 million per just because of what he accomplished in a role that he won't be filling in a few years.

We're perfectly set up to be realistic about Bo ($4.75per for an elite 3C & future captain), draft our 2C (floor) skillset this year, then throw the chequebook at our ideal 1C via offer sheet or UFA when the Sedins are off the books.

The Oilers (as you stated) already made this mistake with Hall & RNH who are both way more capable of filling a top 6 role than Bo. If we want to avoid cap trouble during the rebuild, gotta start by being realistic about the pieces we lock up along the way.

A huge downfall of Bennings, IMO, he doesn't possess the ability, or hasn't shown it, to be able to systematically build. He overvalues players that realistically don't have the value he sees.

not come playoff time.
if u were capitals gm, would u trade ovie to LV for just this years 1st rd pick?

is 9.5 mill off the books more important than getting a better return?

edit:

i know there is a NMC NTC. just a question of would u if u could?

he's seemingly building this team backwards. Paying a premium for role players by using cap space/assets and now focusing on keeping/adding picks/prospects. It should've been done the other way around, both priority and time-wise.

Very underrated player, they put too much emphasis on OV, they need to give younger guys like Burakovsky more ice and stop being so top heavy.

if u offer sheet a 1C you're likely giving up multiple 1st rd picks. Not ideal. Especially for this team.
