I still think he is a potential top 3 pick. He is that good imo. He is as Don would say the safer pick imo of him, Makar and Heiseknen. I take the risky pick in Makar but Lijergren could turn out better. Its a tough call. I would love to be the one to make it.

His skating is unreal but I'm always apprehensive of taking D that early unless they are dominating in all aspects. I'm not convinced there is much difference between Brannstrom and lijergren. Makar would be interesting if we had a bunch of center prospects.

I have never understood the Liljegren lovefest, & to be honest I don't quite get the Heiskanen lovefest either. I really like Makar, but wouldn't take that risk @ 5 ahead of all the forwards who will be available.

Liljegren's skill set seems nice, but I question his hockey sense. He should be better and more effective than what he is with his skating/skill. One of those situations where the sum of the parts is greater than the whole.

I know the whole mono thing makes it tough to evaluate him, but still.

Makar is definitely still my fav dman in this draft with Heiskanen at 2nd.

Hello,

New blog is up, with the latest from Paris and a couple of stories on Travis Green.

Reminds me of Jost or Brendan Morrison

In the 4 or 5 games I have seen the kid, he is always in the right position in all 3 zones. He would be a nice pick. There are a couple Finnish players that I like in 2nd as well, but there names escape my brain this morning.
I am more interested in 2nd round pick than I am in 1st. We get a solid player (top 6 worthy).
We have discussed probably 15 decent picks in 2nd round, over the past month or so, that should be nice addictions to our prospect pool.

Agreed. Hockey sense is my highest weighted piece of the skillset. I find it weird that Liljegren played & struggled (briefly prior to mono) on the same team where Pettersson dominated that league, yet remains the more hyped prospect.

It's not always that simple, this time last year everyone was hyping up liljgren (sp) as potentially the guy to knock Patrick out of first and Nico was not in the conversation for #1. Things change a lot in prospects draft year and even more in their draft +1.

Im into lilgren if he's still there at 5. Mono isn't something that you just get over, it takes up to a year to fully recover from.
He's physically developed enough to play right away, great skater and shot. Not as good hockey iq as oj but not terrible.

I know people here don't like him but if he hadn't had mono i feel he could have contested the top two.

I hate this site... i wrote this on a smart phone and it is slow and glitchy.

Again, this draft is full of bums..... look at the leaders in the league's the draft eligible players play in, mostly dominated by 2016 and 18 draft eligible players.

This is what separates Makar from the pack. He see's the play develop and he knows where to be. When to jump into the play and when to pass. Of the three defence men he creates space on the ice for himself and the rest of his team. Great vision.
