In this draft as JB said there's 1-2 and 3-5. I fully expect him to make the pick at 5. Unless he is BLOWN AWAY. - manvanfan
I am not surprised about the talks in here of move up move down. I am more surprised at who is posting it. |

Yeah . Take the top 5 and run. Why grab a second round pick in a weaker draft and get a lesser player with the first round pick. We need skill. - VANTEL

CBJ pick https://www.draftsite.com...d-scooter-brickley/26468/ - VANTEL
Well.... never you mind than. I was partial to moving the 52nd ov..... but the 56th is way too frickin valuable too move, unless were going for 1ov.... which we should be |

No.... historically all the top defensemen PhD Swedish origin are weak, slow and soft. I'll lousy them, lidstrome, Karlson, edler, hedman.
We don't want any players like that, do we? |

What do you want at #2 that you are willing to give up two picks and a roster player?
Nico will go first so you want to give that up for question mark Patrick? |

Not everyone peaks then.
52 pick this year, i'm not sure. I'm very optimistic of prospects abilities normally. Usually i'm in with players up till the 4th round that I think can become solid NHL regulars.
At that point in time I would start swinging for the fences if I was JB. I think I have Mason Shaw from Medicine Hat there in my mock. David Farrance or Nick Henry are my other choices for Van's around there. - manvanfan
No not everyone, but there have been many studies showing that forwards tend to play their best hockey between 24-32 and that most peak around 28.
I don't see the point in targetting key players who are over 23. |

Either one of them is twice the prospect of the following 4.
I believe both Patrick and nico to have first line ceilings and 2nd line floors while the next best centers have 2nd line potential and ahl all star floors. I could be wrong but i still feel this is a really really weak draft, possibly the weakest since the twins were drafted.
The top defensemen could be top two but more likely has a top 4 ceiling and an ahl all star floor. There will be some goods players taken, I feel, but there are no good rankings and development is unpredictable. Only the top two picks project with certainty to be top 6 players, which is what we need.
I'm also leaning towards L. As the top D.
, I had mono as a teenager and it really curtails your strength and focus for almost 6 months after you recover from it.... especially at that age (yes I do habe some limited medical experience).
Also, this year i don't feel that there are any players to get excited about after pick 20/25, some might drop but by the time we get to 56ov we're talking scrap level players. |

I am all for getting more picks as long as we are not giving up picks or good prospects. Benning has even come out and said so as much. We wont be trading picks or prospects were his exact words.
I am fine with anyone of these picks Nico Nolan Glass Mittelstadt Heiskanen Liljegren Makar Vilardi . Don't need to move up or down .
We will get a good player. |

Yup, targeting players in their prime makes no sense. 21 or under |

Lefty, I really don't like the idea of trading down. Everyone on here is confused about the draft order between 3-10 so it appears to make sense if you can add an asset. But, Benning will have a well defined draft list. There are no assurances that whoever he has as BPA at 5 will be available at 6 or 7 or 8. He has to take the best player in his list. An organization only gets so many chances at a top 5 pick and trading it is crazy |
