Looking at a scenario below that's been alluded too but adding more meat to the concept and how it can unfold.

The stars move for trade and signing of Bishop is a win now move. Next they need to improve their D with a trade. The 3OA pick will not help their retool for years. By then the window is closed. So why not trade it for a top pairing D. Are any available? Well Tanev could be. Plus sending out cap dump Lehtonan as well for say Gartieg and perhaps Subban would make it palatable too. Stars get a 3rd goalie insurance to develop plus a prospect who's made for new NHL. He could step in now, as PP specialist, during their window. Tanev as an add is cap friendly for a top pairing D. Then Stars could bid high for UFA Shatenkirk having also shed Lehtonan. Wouldn't all that be worth it for the Stars to trade a 3OA who will take years to be NHL ready? Plus they still have a first rounder to take someone to develop for the next retool.

As for Nucks if they are able to pull this off who do they pick at 3OA? Then 5OA? Guess it depends on what Avs want. We can assume Nico and Nolan will be gone. So at 3OA if Avs want D then take Heiskenan. Leave Avs Makar and Liljegren to ponder. Or have them bite on Vilardi. Then JB can make the 5OA either Glass or Mittlestadt having taken his future top pairing D. If this can be done before the expansion draft. Then Sbisa will be your vet stop gap for future D like OJ, Brisbois and Heiskenan to get integrated. If not, they could integrate one with Pedan if no other cast off UFA D isn't willing to sign here.

It's a win win scenario for both teams. Stars use the retool to push their current offensive stars with added D and tending for Cup run in next couple years. Canucks add two core pieces at D & C for rebuild that makes them competative in a couple years.

It probably is everywhere to be fair
He was on the Sabres board earlier trying to trade us Sbisa & Subban...
for Kane

There haven't even been any rumors in Buffalo that we want to trade Kane
That's all from EK

I am not sure what they will get for him? One year left on his deal and every one has the mind set he would like to be in Vegas.

I have often pumped the Mattheos pick for 2nd round. Especially if JB takes a D in 1st round.

But even then Nucks are so short on size and speed up the middle this kid is good. He's still growing too like Glass. I see them have similar games. I like the drive he could bring. More chops, size and skill then Sutter that's for sure. Could push Bo as well. Bigger game then Guadette. So with a floor of an upgrade for Nucks in a needed area. A ceiling to be an offensive fast and gritty top 6 center with size.

Mattheos listed as a center but he plays the wing more then Vilardi even did. He had a lot of PP points this season. I don't see him much more then a middle six 40 point player troy brouwer type player. Certainly does like the physical side of the game.

40 points would be first line material on Canucks. Megna had 8

Eriksson had 24 and Baretschi ha 35 . I would gladly take a 40 point winger . This is how bad we are

Yes, the team is bad. When they get some better players the others will be boosted.

They need to change the style . Enough of the stupid cycle perimeter game . Go crowd the net and shoot.

They will need a coach though to show them where the froont of the net is.

I'm not sure what has happened other then the Sedin's got older since 2011 but I literally remember that season and how they came back late in games. I told my buddy that year felt different, they were playing playoff style throughout the season.

I can see it from time to time where they get the puck in the zone and 1 or 2 passes and it's to the net and it usually ended up in the net or a good chance. Too many times though it was 6 or more passes behind the net back and forth. Like WAY too many times.

If any players need to see video it's the Sedin's being shown the Sedin's of old.

They are clearly still capable players but just not together. Splitting them up would be a great idea. I think Daniel is probably bringing down Henrik.

It's not "Van's" second

Johansson is only 26. He can develop on the wing of Bo. Create a real good second line.

Spit balling. Outside the Norm though. I don't want to become too good too fast. Would still like some lower picks in the coming years. Major boners for some 18 and 19 draft eligible players.

Allan McShane the next Joe Pavelski.

I'm saying move to 7th (Arizona) or 9th (Detroit) at worst, not 15th. Depends what on the table of course, if it makes sense and you can draft Pettersson there it's a win to me.

Bold move for JB if he has the stones, makes sense if the guy he really wants is gone.

26 is already in his peak years....and that pick at 52 or whatever it is will still have some good players available.

Keep all of our draft picks and all of our prospects, no one knows yet which ones will be legit.

Yeah . Take the top 5 and run. Why grab a second round pick in a weaker draft and get a lesser player with the first round pick. We need skill.

Not everyone peaks then.

52 pick this year, i'm not sure. I'm very optimistic of prospects abilities normally. Usually i'm in with players up till the 4th round that I think can become solid NHL regulars.

At that point in time I would start swinging for the fences if I was JB. I think I have Mason Shaw from Medicine Hat there in my mock. David Farrance or Nick Henry are my other choices for Van's around there.

In this draft as JB said there's 1-2 and 3-5. I fully expect him to make the pick at 5. Unless he is BLOWN AWAY.
