Maybe Burrows going deep in the PO will inspire Edler .

If teams are going to offer first round picks in next years draft at the trade deadline. I'd sell both. 3 first round picks in the 18 draft could create a dynasty.
- manvanfan

I don't have a problem with a pump and dump. That's why I'd put free asset Rodin there too who's only a year older then Sven & Granlund. But that means Nucks can't play sh!tty offensively to get those 1st rounders for them.

I watched highlight videos for like an hour this morning on Pettersson, Glass, Mittelstadt, Vilardi.

The truest play maker of them all, was definitely Pettersson. Would need to get stronger. Ability to find teammates unmatched.
Comparable Alexander Wennberg

Mittelstadt was a "new nhl" type player, speed through the neutral zone, quick and skilled with a good shot.
Comparable Tyler Seguin

Glass was quick and is good at finding space in the O zone. Defensively responsible. (I would say he looks like the center version of Brock Boeser)
Comparable Ryan Johansen

Vilardi skating is poor. His hands are elite maybe best in the draft. Creates a lot of turnovers on the forecheck. May not be the fastest but plays so smart. Plays the hardest game of them.
Comparable Ryan Getzlaf/ Sean Monahan

This is just what I got from watching highlight videos.

- manvanfan

I agree with the above and it's a good take. But would add Vilardi by accounts and write ups hasn't used his size to be aggressive and hit. So he may have the size of the comparable players but not the grit and edge to his game. Against men it will be harder for him to just get away with his size advantage and soft hands.

Ottawa playing the old 1-3-1.

Hands down the boring style of play in the history of hockey.

Nashville played that way for years with trotz

Get a lead and sit on it.

- classic321

Boucher's system is so conservative it makes what Trotz did with the Preds seem like they were the Oilers of the 80's.

Why everyone got fooled because the Sens never had the lead. Playing catch up and OT were exciting coming back in games. That was more Crawford using his engines to race. But if they have a lead forget about. Paint will dry faster then the pace of their game.

Ryan pulled the power move game winner to say how you like them bowl of cherries.

I still say JV is capable of this for Nucks too. Can see (even more post Sedins) driving plays to the net with the Green system.

Will Brannstrom be available at 33?

What about Robertson?

There are some interesting players who will be around late 1st/early 2nd.

I guess we'll see what he brings in the Memorial Cup. I got the impression he didn't use his size aggressively enough. But then again maybe it's the skating holding him back from getting there.

Also, he's played more wing because of injury on his junior team. Plus other reports see him as an NHL power forward too.

So you like him better then Glass and Mittlestadt?

I have often pumped the Mattheos pick for 2nd round. Especially if JB takes a D in 1st round.

But even then Nucks are so short on size and speed up the middle this kid is good. He's still growing too like Glass. I see them have similar games. I like the drive he could bring. More chops, size and skill then Sutter that's for sure. Could push Bo as well. Bigger game then Guadette. So with a floor of an upgrade for Nucks in a needed area. A ceiling to be an offensive fast and gritty top 6 center with size.

No. But if you read then you would see the why, how and results of more angles to it.

The idea has totally crossed most of our minds i'm sure. I've got the idea that if Dal, Avs both take a D that Van holds the cards for Buffalo. They don't need another center, they need D.

As you mentioned that NJ moved up 1 spot last year. Gave up a 3rd round pick to do it.

If dallas and Avs do take D's and Buffalo wants a D too. That leaves Vilardi, Glass, Mittelstadt, Pettersson with Van picking at 8. To add in a 3rd or they own minny's late 2nd.

In a perfect world I would do it too. It almost just seems to simple and a sure thing for it to happen.

- manvanfan

I believe, for that jump into top 5, with the Sabers desperate to grab last top D, they give up a 2nd rounder instead. Anyway, your vision would look like this:

NJ- Nico
Flyers- Nolan
Nucks - Heiskenan
Avs- Makar
Sabers- Liljegren
Vegas- Vilardi
Yotes- Mittlestadt
Nucks- Glass

So can you imagine that above where we take the trade to Stars scenario and trade down to Sabers scenario.

Thus, not only could Canucks end up then with top paring D Heiskenan, and top 6 C Glass. But also, middle to top C Matheos, Power forward middle to top 6 LW Ratcliffe; and with CBJ's 2nd 4/5 D Josh Brook. Not a bad haul of 5 players from first 2 rounds to add to the prospect pool.

Then take a Goalie or another power forward in 3rd & 4th rounds. End up with 9 players from 2017 draft to push prospect pool in next couple years.

Still waiting for an alternative plan to a proper rebuild(preferably with details, not generalizations)....no one has posted one yet.

- Nucker101

Well.... a rebuild isn't just a single path. But I'll take a stab at it.

Sedins are here for another year, Edler is not going anywhere.
So... first id stop talking about trading them

Try to trade into the top two, tanev and 5 if that's what it takes. I believe they're the only bonifid top line players in the draft. Draft d from then on and pay to strike gold.
Suck balls next year and trade sbisa et all next deadline for 2018 picks.
Pray for 1ov.... Draft franchise D 1ov
Spend money on ufa big ticket items.
Bring back tree

Rebuild over, you have your number 1 center, number 2 center, number 3 center locked up.
You have a decent top 4 with a franchiseD and oj leading the pack.
Demko graduates to backstop Markey.
Might not be good or great that year, but should be competitive and on the upswing.
Should be competing for the cup I 19/20.

So, that's my plan, just need to win the lottery next year and get to two somehow this year...... easy right?

Ok boys, rip me a new one......

No. take your asset at 5. Get asset(s) for Tanev. Hoard picks. Hoard draft picks. Hoard prospects. Next 2 to 3 years. Not going to rip ya a new one""" but we can't bank on winning the Dahlin sweepstakes. Top 3 would be good next year. Just keep accumulating assets. Look how excited we are over a Dahlen. Nobody even heard of him before. We need more prospects and picks. more more more.

Drinking a 2015 Singularity from Driftwood. So good.
