Call me an eternal optimist but Price's comments at the end of the season about understanding that him getting more money means less will be available to improve the team and that it will be taken into account makes me believe he'll get closer to what Lundqvist is earning. Kinda like how Crosby didn't ask for the maxmimum possible with the Pens.

Hopefully I'm not dreaming here.

I would guess Price would want to be paid what Lundqvist gets - if not more. WHich will be a beautiful thing... combining that with Plekanec's deal, Webers and the overpayment that's coming up for Radulov. Add in Markov at a minimum of 4M/year...

Actually, he stinks period. They got a guy for $2.8 million that will hang around the opponent's blue line and score a bit, and be a ghost in his own zone. When you have cap issues like the Hawks, filling out the roster is a challenge. Hopefully, after a few cups the Leafs will have such problems.

You won't puke if said winger turns into a top 6 player while foote is a mediocre ahl guy.. Take the best player, maybe that is foote not sure but either way he isnt helping leafs next season, good chance he doesnt the year after either. Leafs might be more in need of a winger by then even who knows

Nick Suzuki, great talent, put him on a line with Marner and another short guy and we can call it the midget line.

If the leafs want to improve their defense through trade, the teams/players they should be targeting is with the wild, jets, and ducks. Since they will struggle with who they pick for the expansion draft, would be nice if we can pick one of those guys up

Manson is who I think they should target. Big tough right shot d who is actually good at D unlike the two highlighted and cheaper than trouba. Manson plays shut down with lindholm right now. I'd offer to take bieksa off their hands for a discount on Manson. Free's them up yo protect lindholm vantanen and lindholm without having to lose rakell or silverberg. Also 4m in cap space for a budget team. Gotta be worth something.

Edit: send bieksa to robidas island for a year or have him rotate with holm and rosen on the bottom pair for a year then he's gone. That is if he would waive to come to toronto.

no... this would be the Ducks problem. Bieksa would have to waive his NTC/NMC to be traded to the Leafs.

I believe in this case the team acquiring him would be scott free.. meaning its possible that Las Vegas might claim Bieksa... which I would think would make him happy - as he 's much more likely to get his next contract for decent money from LV than from Anaheim or Toronto.

That's another team the Leafs should target to acquire a defenseman prior to the expansion draft. Nashville will probably have to go 7-3-1 due to some quality depth, which means one of those 4 defensemen will be left unprotected if they don't make some kind of deal first.
