Depending on how the roster overhaul goes, I say by thanksgiving. If Bednar is leading a last place team by then while getting the type of guys he needed. he would be gone.
But I don't think that will be the case. More Youth and Speed, especially if its mobile Dmen with a healthy Varly. I can't see them being last place again

The bednar leash debate will be an intersting on to follow. Personally I think he gets the year. With similar record as his first 21 games went 9-11-1 over the year span. But it will be a rough beginning. Probably similar to our record after the TDL 5-15-1. Mainly because of what you said. Youth and inexperience. And to me that is part of the growing pains we will see.
If jost makes the team ( and that's still and IF I won't be shocked if he starts in the ahl for 20 games) , I see a similar development in his game as rants. Spotty scoring, but growth. 1st 20 games will be rough. I fully expect it to be. Also we will probably lose duchene, so filling his void in the top 6 won't come easy unless another trade happens which will probably take a top 4 dman out.
I do think Sakic will be patient with bednar this year due to the youth movement, it will be painful, and we probably won't win much but I also think it's the smart move until Sakic has moved the old core out. Theyre a package deal now. But going in and expecting 19 extra wins to be a .500 team is to me a bit to much to ask. If we can get 10 extra wins and push 70 ppints to me that's process, which is kinda why I think he gets the year. And the start of 2019.
