Why Buffalo is the home team:
http://buffalonews.com/20...es-return-winter-classic/

The Sabres have to be the home team because Madison Square Garden's tax exemption with the city is dependent on the Rangers and Knicks playing all their home games there, meaning they can't be the home team for this game or they lose the exemption.

Interesting, thx. Although I take umbrage with this quote:

Winter Classic as a home game for Buffalo, the NHL can draw from the Big Apple market while also offering a relatively convenient trip for Western New Yorkers."

It's as convenient as driving from Charlotte to Nashville, or about 1 and half times as far from NYC to Boston

how many times last year did we complain that eichel wasnt playing the point on his strong shooting side on the powerplay? even then we finished first. As long as you have risto and eichel up top its kinda hard to screw up this powerplay

better question

why do we have to have buffalo in the spotlight to lose another game?

I mean if we are not losing super bowls, or cup finals

we are going 10 plus years w/o a playoff series win in hockey or 17 or so years w/o a playoff appearance in the nfl

I mean we get in the spotlight, and either get blown out or somehow find a way to screw it up in the end.

More misery for Buffalo fans and for me, if the last 40 years wasn't enough, throw another log on a fire for the entire country to see on a holiday

I've made the drive to the NYC area multiple times. It's about 6 hours. I did usually stay in NJ, though and then took a train (either NJ Path or NJ Transit) into the city, though.

Yeah not terrible, but why not put the Game in Syracuse or Roch then? I know the reason, of course. Citifield looks better on TV, but it kind of sucks for Sabres fans. A home game 6 hours away during the busiest travel time of the year

I really don't have an issue with it. If the Sabres did, there were probably 29 other teams willing to make that concession. Home ice advantage goes out the window with these outdoor games anyway.

FYI.

Sens playoff roster includes 11 Tim Murray draft picks who've made appearances:
2-1st
1-3rd
3-4th
3-5th
1-6th
1-7th

8 were on ice last nite

Also on the ice in Game-6 clincher: 1 FA signing and 3 players traded for while Murray was AGM

How's that? That ticket wont be included in the season ticket package they will just have first rights to buy the tickets in a level equal to their seats.

Buffalo is too Thin All-Around to Survive Such a Trade

Having seen what it takes to trade for an elite defenseman, the question now becomes, “Can the Buffalo Sabres afford to make such a trade?”

The answer: technically, yes – if it wants to set itself back a few years

---Thanks again Timmy boy
