You get rid of Stepan and his contract. You give the money you are saving by not paying Miller and Stepan to Oshie. You sign Brendan Smith and target another serviceable d-man after buying out Staal.

Absolute pipe dream but it would be nice.

the way I see it, even if Stepan had a good season, everybody could make a solid argument that he needs to be traded before his NTC kicks in on July 1st

I've always been a huge Stepan guy, unfortunately can't defend him right now and it's kind of a necessity to do it

The only thing that sucks is his trade value is the lowest it has ever been. I don't know if it would be smart to trade him just to trade him. If they find a good deal I am all for it

I don't believe AV is irreplaceable, Sutter, Bylsma and Hartley are names that would be possible in NY
