Awesome write ups as always Jan.

In my opinion it was a fantastic series start to finish. Rangers outplayed us on several occasions but Ottawa still found a way to win. Incredibly impressed with how strong/fast the Rangers were and being able to create separation. I swear to god they averaged 3+ breakaways a game.

Great series guys.

And in the end thats all that matter. The "will" to win. You guys had it. Good luck next round.

I think you misunderstood. Vin had two thoughts and made them into 1 paragraph.

1st: long time Ranger fans should see 2 cups in a row because this team is a dream crusher.

2: Devils & Isles fans trolling him on FB, twitter, etc.

You could make a case that Ottawa won with a two man team, Karlsson and Pageau. Pretty much more evidence that is was the Rangers losing way more then Ottawa winning

Turris had a big goal, but really other then that this series had a rangers sweep in the cards and only the NY Rangers could turn into a 6 game ouster absolutely maddening heart wins games tho and one team had it

I think they'll buyout Girardi this summer and Staal next summer.
- jimbro83

I think they should do the opposite, in buying out Staal this summer at the higher cap charge to them, and then possibly Girardi after next season. Girardi at least showed that he has some more left in his game than Staal does, and we have enough LH defensemen already here & in the system if they sign Smith, which is a must for Gorton. I'll take McDonagh, Skjei, and Smith as my top 3 LH d'men with even Holden as of now a spare over Staal. What they need for the back line is a RH shooting one or two, which must include one RH to man the power play and get hard shots to the net.
But Stepan &/or Nash must be moved, since the cap hit buyout from my memory for Staal would be about roughly $2.5M less net combined over the next 3 seasons than Girardi's. Then Staal's becomes about $6M to $6.5M net total higher than Girardi's for their cap buyout periods, with Girardi's lasting through 2022/23, and Staal's through the 2024/25 season.

Never understood this thinking. Not directed at you TJ but I have seen it a lot. The Rangers got beat, end of story. Doesn't matter how it was done, Ottawa was better.

Unless Corsi is the new title, we probably won that. Jimbo would like that.

I think you have to also throw Stone in there as well. Not sure what the hell happened to the guy but he was god awful in the first round and struggled all series until game 5 and 6. I don't know if maybe he started getting shots pregame but the last two games showed the real Mark Stone that Sens fans have fallen in love with.

Loved Skjei's game all series. Great first pass/vision/shot etc. I thought AV didn't give him enough minutes.

Meaning they beat themselves. Not trying to slight Ottawa. And in beating themselves it's makes it that more frustrating. Ottawa could barely get a lead til last night in 6 games.

The 1-3-1 takes some offense away from guys like him I think. I do recall him killing the rangers in the previous series they had a few years ago. Stone is a very good player as is Hoffman.

Just think it's funny how some players never leave this board haha

On your thing, you gotta figure Fast Grabner or Lindberg are gone...and I want Smith back I'll be surprised if they go the Shattenkirk route. Just feels like the long term UFAs are a thing of the past for them

In my opinion especially if you compare the stats - Coyle is a bigger version of Stepan..Stepan actually was better by a little bit at face-offs in the season then he was. To me if you are going to get rid of stepan you have to get better not get someone who is almost the same. just my opinion

I guess you could argue Rangers had the better overall play during the series, but Ottawa was better when it mattered the most. And really, thats all that matters.

For some reason after game 2 I had a feeling they were going to lose the series. Even after they came back and won the 2 at msg. That game 2 collapse really shook my confidence in them.

I felt a same way after game 2. Then was reinforced game 5. I've seen enough from this group now to know it won't happen with them. I gave them a long time to prove me wrong, which I'm not going to apologize for haha. You can only believe in something so long before you get tired of bashing your skull against the wall

You know I forgot about Smith, could take some extra maneuvering, we haven't signed a big name free agent since 2009, it's been a hoe grown team for the most part but we need an elite puck moving defenseman, he's worth the risk IMO

You don't see Skjei being Shatty-material in the very near future? He won't be an Eric Karlson, but the kid's going to be just as every bit as good as Shattenkirk...IMO.
