why would it cost a first rounder.?. If Toronto is the only team he would go to? I would say a 2nd rd pick..
Oh and I am going on the premise that Kovalchuk is only interested in Toronto.. Which is a complete fabrication - PatC80
i would give up spare parts.
stuff like levio, marincin, SJS 2018 2nd
if the cost is a 1st, let someone else pay. can't waste a 1st on kovy.

Good Lord, I now hope that we don't sign him, just because I don't want anyone on the team who wears such ill-fitting suits. - Atomic Wedgie
The one on the left is not a good look. The one on the right can play on my team any day. |

I don't think he was soft when he was with Jersey. He was like a freight train who could score.
He is many years removed from that, in a league that isn't as good as the AHL and is 34. I would definitely not be betting on Radulov-like performance. - Aetherial
he was a career point game player. guys like that drop, but typically don't have a lecalvalier drop off in their 30's.
60 points is probably what you can expect from a player at his level. |

Devils owner wanted Kovy for 15 years. Lou did not. - Fakepartofme
Also by shredding his contract he saved their asses from the cap recapture when he retired. |

$250k x 12 years recapture penalty for the years he played. |

>35 contract, no caphit at all if you retire; other than recapture.
He’s 34 now….that can open up a can of worms. |

In our offense, yeah probably.
Radulov got what, low 50's, in Montreal's offense. Pretty damn good. I am not sure Kovalchuk could do that.

I don't think anyone really believes the Leafs would have interest. He doesn't seem to fit, especially is he gets term.
The alternative would be to discuss the Sens victory last night.
Yeah, uh, any other Russians the Leafs might go after?

Well it seems like people thought because of the lou connection.
besides there are a dozens things to discuss outside of Kovy and sh!tty sens (who seem unstoppable right now) The Phaneuf, turris and brassard trades seem to have worked out well for them.
But 65....one of the best players in the league. wow
dammit I just talked about the sens |

Meh, I doubt he ever sees NHL ice. - Fakepartofme
He's the guy (one of the guys) Marchand speared in the berries at the end of the reg season this year.
I'd use your 1st for Foote. Looks like a solid Dman. Now, I better leave before i get banned for posting in a leaf thread....

Was at the Marlies game last night.
Quick notes:
Dermott controlled the play every time he was on the ice. Good vision, great passing, skates very well. Downside, he tries to do too much, and gets caught too far in the offensive zone. (gardineresque)
Nielsen bad passes, caught out of position too many times. Needs a lot more work.
Valiev great positioning, pretty solid defensive d-man
Johnson despite the 2 goals, seemed to float a lot
Kapanen dominated other players. Was a standout and should be on the Leafs full time next year.
No one else really stood out. Lots of players floating around and looking lost at times.

How was the game overall?
Ya Ive been saying all year, Nielsen needs more seasoning in the AHL, nowhere near ready.
Good to hear about Dermott, I think another year would be good him with the marlies, but if he does great in camp and makes the NHL...perfect. |

Game was great. Seemed typical Leafy as Kaskisuo didn't seem on his game and most goals against came off bad turnovers, but the 3 goals in the last 2 minutes was fun!
Overall, tough to see more than Dermott and Kapanen being ready. Everyone else seems like projects.
Johnson getting attacked at the end of the game wasn't good.
Seems like Syracuse has a bunch of goons on the team with no Marlies to step up. |

Haven't really watched any of the NHL 2nd round. Definitely going to take in the game 7 doubleheader though. (Probably wont last for the EDM/ANA game though) |
