42 points in 64 games for Anisimov. Prorated that would be 54 points inf he played a full 82 games. Only 37 centers scored more than 52 points in 2016/17. If you look at centers with 52 points and a +8 that number gets much smaller. I think Anisimov is a decent #2c, but something has to be done about his face offs.

As I said I don't believe PTS are the whole story when you look at what he brought to that line . And other teams would see that ,and someone even a rival may think taking him out of there may not help the HAWKS much .And people would be all over Stan for getting nothing for Saad . You are right his FO are a huge problem

I don't listen enough to know if that's who you are talking about. From what I heard, its a guy with no excitement in the call, and you absolutely cannot tell what is going on in the game. On the second Caps goal the other night the call was something to the effect of "Burakovsky has the puck.......it's in the net". No semblance of where he was on the ice, when, how, or if he shot it, nothing. You don't have to be excited when the opposition scores, I get that you are the home team call, but at least a "Shot and a goal" or "He, Scores" or something to at least let it be known that a goal was scored.

Driving I like to listen to games, regardless of whom the teams are, but so many of the broadcasts are just a complete S*&t show that it's a useless endeavor.

Foley is nothing what he used to be, but on the TV broadcast I can see what is going on. Wideman is good on the radio.

- TheTrob

While he relies on the "down in the butterfly" phrase a bit too much, I think Wideman is overall good. My beef with the radio broadcast is the incessant sponsorship of every single aspect of the game. I know that's not the announcer's fault, but it really irritates.

And that Boston radio feed is the absolute worst!

Agreed that points are not the whole story, but I think that only increases AA's value. Yes, he is weak on faceoffs but he does well in almost every other aspect of the game.

NEW YORK POST: Larry Brooks believes big changes are coming for the New York Rangers in the wake of their elimination from the second round of the 2017 playoffs. He feels it “all but certainly will mark the end of the core group” that includes Henrik Lundqvist, Dan Girardi, Marc Staal, Ryan McDonagh and Derek Stepan. “Everything will be on the table,” said Brooks.

ESPN.COM: Craig Custance suggests the Rangers must make roster moves in preparation of the expansion draft, restructure their defense and sign Washington Capitals unrestricted free agent defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk. The Rangers could lose a good player to the Vegas Golden Knights (Michael Grabner, Antti Raanta or Nick Holden), which could prompt Rangers GM Jeff Gorton to shop one or more before the draft in hopes of getting a decent return. Custance also suggests buying out Dan Girardi, who carries a no-movement clause.

Nice to see it is happening to almost every dominant team from earlier this decade. Bettman is getting his parity wish thanks to the restrictive cap.

DALLAS MORNING NEWS: Mike Heika speculates over possible goalie moves by the Dallas Stars in the wake of their acquisition yesterday of Ben Bishop from the Los Angeles Kings. “The Stars can now protect Bishop in the expansion draft while exposing Kari Lehtonen and Antti Niemi,” writes Heika. “If Vegas takes either, the Stars will be relieved of the final year of that player’s salary. If Vegas leaves both, Dallas will likely look to trade Niemi or buy him out.”
SPECTOR’S NOTE: I expect Niemi will be bought out. Though he has only one year left on his contract, his play declined over the last couple of years. That’s unlikely to entice teams to pick up his $4.5 million cap hit.

What is the residual cap hit on a buyout, if any?

LOL

via Pierre LeBrun tweets,
Interesting: have heard from teams who are contemplating using Vegas' unique free-agent window prior to June 21 in this fashion

Team X could offer Vegas an asset in exchange for signing a pending UFA from another team during that unique window

Then Vegas would flip that signed player to Team X. But key is that Vegas must wait until after expansion draft to flip the signed player

That's because any signed free agent during the unique window counts as one of Vegas' roster picks for expansion draft...

Might be worth the asset for Vegas if it counts as an expansion draft pick from a team that doesn't have much to select from to begin with

And FYI, league source says all of this is permissible. Just another potential expansion draft week wrinkle....

If Washington wins tonite, there will be a complete turnover in conference finals teams from last year - 8 out of 30 make the final-4 in two years.

Doesn't get any "parityer" than that....

Here is where Pierre is very good - he is frequently on TSN Radio 690 Montreal at about 4:10 P.M. Chicago time and they have him on there to make critical assesments of the Habs as a team and their management. He does a great job doing that even though he has to be careful what he says because he's a Montrealer and has plenty of old hockey cohorts listening. Unlike his TV gig B.S. act, he's very insightful assessing the strength and weaknesses of every NHL team.

Just catching up, but this is spot on! The only thing I'd add is it's also infected the locker room. Something is definitely wrong down there as well, not sure what/who it is but something is amiss.

Differences between Cup teams and the 2017 playoff fiasco:

(Just wondering if the telltale signs below were brought into discussion between Dineen & McDonough......if so how does the same old same old affect Dineen, Q, and Bowman going forward in camp/by Xmas

* lack of forward support/ forwards helping demen
* power play predictability. Not enough movement, no screening goaltender, shots from same spot
from Kane and Panarin. COACHES INSTRUCTION, players do not listen or implement for years.
Not saying this is true 100% throughout season, but often is easily anticipated by opponent
* Keith not a true PP qb. Shots often inaccurate.
* when no puck control offense, Chicago needs more hits. Not enough players willing to deliver
Checks in playoff style hockey. Team quit when too many players either playing hurt or unwilling
To sacrifice body to deliver checks as often as Nashville was. Plus Nashville was stronger, faster,
Wanted the "W" more.

I'm sure Chicago, San Jose, Minnesota, Montreal and Boston are having similar thoughts. Add Washington and/or Anaheim to that list if they lose too.

I still don't expect a lot of major changes.

Maybe Staal and Girardi but not Klein or McDonaugh. Shame for Lundqvist. Solid goalie. Would like to see him get a cup soon.

The Hawks are pumping the tires of AHL Smurf on Twitter. Why waste your time marketing a minor leauger who will never amount to anything.

AA is a 3C with two guys making him look good in the points dept. Sorry, but that is what he is. Kane and Panarin are first line top 10 NHL scorers and that is why AA comes out looking like a passable 2C. He isn't playing with second liners.

He isn't a bad player, but he can really go invisible at times and can't win draws.

No way. This game should be a 0-0 tie. Except for ZEROvetchkin. Both goals on him and his repulsive defensive habits. They will NEVER go all the way with him as captain.
