Do you think Goldobin would flourish with the Twins on the second line?
- VANTEL

No, I think he needs to play with speed and someone who can set him up maybe with Sutter and Granlund?

If I had to draw it up right now based off what we have it would look something like this.

Baertschi Horvat Eriksson
Daniel Henrik UFA Dwight King
Granlund Sutter goldobin
Gaunce Chaput Dorsett

I think Boeser would benefit from tearing it up in the AHL before penciling him in the lineup.

He looked great offensively in limited games last year in the NHL but I still think AHL is the path for success for the he majority of prospects.

I didn't like it at the time but I do think it will look okay for the next couple of years. Still not my preference but he won't be as bad as he was this year.

I can see he and Horvat doing quite well together.

Boeser will be on a similar path to Horvat. Might play 6-12 AHL games for conditioning but ultimately he will be up on the big club for good.

He's going to be injured?

Horvat is unique in that he was ready for NHL full time in his draft +2. I'm not assuming any of our prospects regardless of how they have looked so far will be ready for full time duty.

Baer-Bo-Boeser
Sedin-Sedin-Granlund
LE-Sam Gagner-Goldobin
Gaunce-Sutter-Dorsett

Sutter is a good bottom 6 center who will see PK time, no PP time though. He can score with whoever he is playing with because distributing the puck is not a strength. I used Sam Gagner as a 3rd line center but I am using him as an example of a center that might come fairly cheap and can play PP and is a distributing centerman. A 3rd line center playing with LE and Goldobin needs to get the pucks to them.

Might as well have someone who is tough and will be cheap to throw with the sedins, I also expect you could flip him at tdl after he puts up career numbers with the sedins.

4th liners are pretty replaceable, imo that's the best of what we currently have.

Its funny in all these fictional line combo's that everyone comes up with Virtanen is not on any. I guess everyone has just lost all faith in the kid? Come on. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say JV now gets it and knows what it takes to stay in the NHL. If he stayed up the whole season and put up 30 points. I would call that a success.

I also think he will be an NHLer but once again needs to spend some more time in the AHL.

I don't want any big UFA signings this year but I wouldn't mind Boyle on a two year contract 2-2.5 per

Also a guy like Gryba at 1-1.5 two year.

I can see a lot of whining and hate coming up after camp by those who hold black and white philosophies on development. The usual ready and rushed declarations. Unless, some are just setting the thread up, for know it all convictions when the Canucks do the opposite.

The Canucks have pretty much laid out and signaled what kind of rebuild they want for next season. Play the youth. Reason behind hiring and promoting Green. To be the guy to do it and develop them. The integration of youth has layers behind it. Overage juniors, NCAA, AHL grounded, European and drafted prospects. These have been the signings and moves done by JB who is looking to do more there. This Canuck development plan involves AHL spots for some, NHL for a few and mix of both for the rest.

The Canucks have about 12 vets that will play a role in mentoring and sheltering younger players in the line up. The younger vets/returnees will be the bridge to the rookies while developing themselves as well. A good 8 spots seem open for youth rotation and development. Among trends in the works JB won't be bringing in an influx of stop gap UFA's. Only layered levels of free agent youth as project signings. Otherwise WD would still be here.

Given what Green and management are saying plus the players available it's a rebuild of transition to youth. The biggest hurdle, given the players available, for rookies now, isn't beating out a vet on talent and execution. It's if they are physically and mentally ready to at least play games in the NHL. Consistency and development in holding their own will either keep them up or send them down to regroup and work on it at an easier level.

The above is how it looks to unfold, IMO, from all the indications and intonation so far from the Canucks. Sorry for the long post hashing out all the ideas brought up. But then again, perhaps I am just stupid, crazy, incoherent, annoying, posting garbage, that should get a life time ban, and be ignored for saying something different.
