Can't have a NTC? Why is that?
- Stripes77

might be cause he's technically coming in as a rookie?

just an observation based on this series but you figure if the rangers had instead of girardi and staal guys who were worth maybe 80% of what they're making, might be looking at the nhl's version of a dynasty. especially if you factor in prime lundqvist years.

How many 30 year old rookies have we had in the last 30 years? I know back in Richard's day it was a little more common, or maybe during the wars. And I'm not talking about a guy like Tim Thomas who was drafted but never played.

Then isn't he subjected to the ELC contracts or doesn't that matter since he is 30?

No, only up to 25? I think. After that you can sign whatever you want to.

25 and older arent subject to elc unless you're a euro in which case 25-27 year olds need to sign a 1 year elc

28 or older euros are exempt from that

Right anyone older than 28 is not subjected to the Entry Level System under any circumstances...and in that system is the only system where you cannot offer a NTC.

Again I am not sure where the issue is

Twitter that he has to redo the contract but I am digging through the CBA at the moment, I need a law degree just to understand half of the crap.

The Golden Knights confirmed, the contract had partial NTC. Per CBA he's not eligible. Resubmitted w/o. Will be approved with no NTC tom.

i dont know, i thought the rule on NTC's had to do with number of years played in the nhl.

You have to be considered in Group 3 of UFA status and that means:

Group 3 Players and Free Agents.
(i) Any Player who either has seven (7) Accrued Seasons or is 27 years of age
or older as of June 30 of the end of a League Year, shall, if his most recent
SPC has expired, with such expiry occurring either as of June 30 of such
League Year or June 30 of any prior League Year, become an Unrestricted
Free Agent. Such Player shall be completely free to negotiate and sign an
SPC with any Club, and any Club shall be completely free to negotiate and
sign an SPC with such Player, without penalty or restriction, or being
subject to any Right of First Refusal, Draft Choice Compensation or any
other compensation or equalization obligation of any kind.

Basically since he didn't have an original SPC (Standard Player Contract) he cannot be offered a NTC or NMC
