martinesen for andrighetto = good move
- aschuter82

Barberio claim, Nieto claim. Remember people were losing their minds that Ty Rattie wasnt claimed and the rest of those waiver wire guys at the time

Berra for Rocco
McLeod for Girard

They are all small moves but they have a common them. Getting guys who can skate and have skill over big body guy

Drafting by the avs has improved drastically. Will still take a few more drafts to really see the pipe line stocked but we are seeing the beginning of it. Most if not all of the rampages dman will be prospects next year

Lindholm-boikov
Brigras-Siemens(if extemded)/mironov(because he might need a few months to adjust)
Meloche-geertsen
Butcher/Heiskanen (if signed and drafted)

That's good problems to have. And the Fwd group is starting to come along too with

Greer-jost-*ranford ( I won't be shocked if theyou both start here)
*girard-beaudin-*petryk
*Vogelhuber-nantel-*bourke

I think Mironov is on the roster opening night unless he has a train wreck of a training camp. Which I dont think he will. He is over at the Worlds going against some of the best talent in the league. Hes currently on the 3rd pair with Provorov for Russia. I dont think AHL will do him any good.

I like Lindholm a lot too. Really depends on if he in the AHL or NHL with how the rest of the roster shapes up (Barberio claimed by Vegas? Duchene trade target? Any D drafted or signed in UFA?)

But you are right. those pairings in the AHL would be really nice and a testament that Avs are finally building something that resembles a farm system

I like the barberio claim, he's a free lotto ticket essentially who's looked good in limited sheltered minutes in a few places now. Worth the chance considering it costs nothing.

I agree, little moves but positive trend in general.

I have a buddy who suggested that Andrighetto may turn out to be a poor man's Martin St Louis. A guy that was labeled "too small" and not given an opportunity on one team, traded to another and can pay off huge dividends. I see the similarities and granted time will tell but that could be a trade that will reap many rewards in the future. He did play well in the short amount of time he was here, not going to jump to conclusions but it could work out well for us.

Yeah I don't disagree with mironov starting in nhl, but see how he looks first, just trying to be safe. He totally laid out Landy, he will wreak havoc on guys, it's going to be great!

Lindholm I like. But I'm curious to see ifor bigras has a good camp... he might also push to be in the bottom pair. Basically I see 3 locks as of today.

TB4-EJ
Z

With the assumption barbs isn't selected and mironov makes the team

Ej-Z
Tb4- X
Barbs-mironov (with Lindholm or bigras pushing for a spot and forst call ups)
X (weirco maybe?)

IF barbs is not here, I see his spot taken by Lindholm or bigras. Also depend on the 9 deal we would have sergachev or hanifin or pulock (my main 3)

There seems to be some logic behind them, thats why I am not doom and gloom about them. Sakic and Bednar seem to be on the same page.

Barberio, Andrighetto, Nieto have all looked solid enough put into new roles on the Avs playing under Bednar and are the kind of guys Bednar had in Lake Erie that he won the calder cup with. High Hockey IQ guys with speed.

Thats why a guy like Lindholm looked very solid playing in the NHL this season too. He fits that mold and I am excited about the potential of him going into next season.

thats not a bad comparision. What I liked about Ghetto is that he is fiesty as hell. He wants that puck, and with his speed and shiftiness, he could be a very solid asset.

He was drafted in 2013 in the 3rd round, its not like he was a no body from the start. To get him for a pending UFA in Martinsen who we signed as an undrafted Free Agent to begin with. Thats just smart asset mgmt and Sakic needs to do more of these type of moves

His worth nothing might be a reason they don't take him.

Coga, which defensemen do you think the Avs would target in a Duchene trade?

I really like Hanifin. I think he is the ideal target and makes the most sense.

out of the teams that apparently have shown the most interest in Duchene. I assume the the Dmen being talked about are:

Canadiens - Sergechev
Islanders - Hamonic but I would want pulock
Blue Jackets - Murray
Sens - Ceci...yuck, but I would want Talbot

I think its a 2 horse race bw the Canes and Habs for Duchene now

Interesting you say that....He was brought in May 2015. Look at that 2015 draft.
Rants, AJ Greer, Meloche, Beaudin, Mironov, Boikov. Picks 1-6 all signed.

2013 and 2014 Drafts
Mackinnon, Martin, Bigras, Lindholm, Geertsen, Nantel are the signed guys from 2 drafts.

I would say hes doing a good job working as Sakics right hand hand in terms of identifying and able to sign guys. Yes the drafting has been better but that has been Sakics focus from the beginning. However its looking even better now, I wonder why that may be? But hey you are trying to be negetive and poop on everything but thats all you know how to do instead of seeing maybe there is some good here. What else you got to try to complain and poop on?

- DDM-Coga

Maybe drafting is better because they fired Head Scout Rick Pracey after the 2014 draft...

but no it must be all because of McFarland right.

ok but trading just about anyone on the roaster would be considered a good move by default.

Problem is Duchene is a UFA in 2 seasons, Canes and Habs wont touch that contract.

You are so simple minded its shocking sometimes.

Teams who are trading for him aren't seeing him as a rental but a solution to a glaring need. A Top end C to push them to the next level.

Teams can extend players you know, they don't have to go to Free Agency.

Honestly man stop trying to look for stuff to be negative on

You know who was drafted in that 2014 draft after pracey was fired and before Sakic hired McFarland and his own staff.

Thats right Lindholm...that 2014 class was a stinker post Pracey and Pre McFarland. So who is taking credit to the worst draft class in the Sakic Era? I see better results in 2015 on vs 2013 and 2014.

Come on man try for me one time to actually look stuff up
