All good points but we will have to see how it actually plays out.
We don't owe Kovy anything but if ownership doesn't spend some money to improve the team it's a complete waste to sign him and have him play in NJ for the year.
My guess is IF he actually wants to return to the NHL and IF he doesn't want to be on the Devils we will sign him and get a reasonable return. 'Reasonable' is debatable but it won't be a blockbuster and Ray won't move him for garbage.

I think the only way he signs with Devils if he, Shero and the 3rd team all have a deal in place. It won't be like Kovy signs, plays then deadline deal.
That being said, there will be a ton of teams wanting him. He's 34, never seriously injured. Still plays at elite level. Devils can def get a first rounder and a prospect AT LEAST from a playoff team.
I honestly wouldn't mind Evander Kane if possible, would prob have to be some three team deal or something. No way Kovy goes to jets if he wants cup.
