lol, right? If it's one thing Buffalo fans do good, it's overvalue and covet our own players way too much.

ROR is in my opinion better on the wing anyway, just because he can win faceoffs doesn't mean he is better suited for the pivot.

Trading them Reinhart who isn't near ROR's level yet isn't going to get it done either.

That being said Toews is the guy they should be looking to trade.

- Stripes77

I agree, but half the reason ROR wanted out of Colorado is because they were playing him on the wing. He's a borderline cry-ass and the only reason I give him an exception is because he didn't hold out on the team and refuse to play unless traded. He was a female dog about the whole thing, still IMO.

Yeah, they by all means should trade Toews, he's the player other teams would want most and probably the easiest to unload because of that, considering the contracts of Seabrook/Kane/Keith/Hossa.
- BeadyEyedDouche

Eh I think Kane would be the one other teams would want most.

I don't think Toews is really that franchise changing player, a very very good player but I think he falls into the Jamie Benn type of player

He just so happened to captain his team to 3 Cup victories but Kane is in the discussion with players like Ovi, Crosby, McDavid as the best of the best, I am not so sure Toews is in that discussion.

Toews is a top 20 player but Kane is a top 5 player if that makes sense.

Can't argue any of this except the Benn comparison. I'd rather have Benn at this juncture, personally. But I get that you're saying they're both just shy of what one would call a franchise player.

Toews has been underachieving for the past 3 years or so, though. The Stars as a whole had a trash season.

Ovechkin on third line at Caps' practice

Crosby practices with teammates and is close to playing tomorrow.

I was just trying to find a player that I could compare him to as in really really really good to great player but isn't in that superstar mold that I would put Kane in.

I get that Toews is a great 2-way player, and this season especially was a down year, but at 10.5 million per, 60 point seasons aren't going to cut it.

I'd compare him more to Bergeron than Benn. Key piece/cornerstone of the team, yet not a franchise/elite player like Crosby/Malkin/Kane/Ovechkin.

ROR is 24 years old. It also saves them $2.5 million in cap space and gives them 2 other players with 3 years (or more based on #8) on their ELC plus 1 more player who is going to get a minimum raise from his ELC in Baptiste.

Obviously Chicago isn't going to trade Kane the player they should be looking at to trade is Toews

I also said that my trade proposal wouldn't get it done either

- Stripes77

Yeah, but that was kind of my point. Chicago wouldn't make that trade unless they had a reason to do it. It might free up some cap space but Kane is Kane.

But further proof that this organization is a poop-show. What 40 year old guy turns down full reign of an organization with a young, franchise player? The answer is no one.
