That trade falls down from the Chicago side - why would they want ROR's contract? The only way they would want to do something like this is if they still feared him doing dumb things in his personal life.
- Slump Buster

ROR is 24 years old. It also saves them $2.5 million in cap space and gives them 2 other players with 3 years (or more based on #8) on their ELC plus 1 more player who is going to get a minimum raise from his ELC in Baptiste.

Obviously Chicago isn't going to trade Kane the player they should be looking at to trade is Toews

I also said that my trade proposal wouldn't get it done either

Regardless, Ovie or no Ovie, this team is not making it to conference finals, and definitely not beating the oilers or Nashville.

The rest of your post was good but this sentence couldn't be further form the truth. Neither have proven anything other than being really good players.

We don't need Ovechkin, we just need another below average player that we can throw money at and then this time yet again next year we can post on here and complain about him, with hopes of another team willing to " take " him.

ROR, Nylander, 8th overall and Baptiste

But that doesn't get it done

Kane Eichel Kane
Bailey Reinhart Okposo
Foligno Larsson Ennis
Carrier Girgensons Gionta

- Stripes77

I think a lot of people are underestimating how strangled by the cap teams like Chicago/Washington/Pittsburgh are with some of the contracts they've been handing out.

We had a Chicago fan on here last night trying to trade us Seabrook for Reinhart and the 8th overall. He's locked up 7x7. Hossa for 5x5. Kane and Toews 10.5 mill for 7 more years. Keith 7 years at 5.5. That's essentially 40 million dollars in your 1st line. It's ridiculous.

This actually lowers their player's value since anyone trading with them is well aware of their cap situations.

Patrick Kane would cost the 8th overall, Reinhart and Nylander but how much more would we have to give? 10.5 million dollars coming back... Ovechkin is actually $1 million dollars cheaper by comparison and only for 4 more years, Kane is locked up for 7. Both 35 by the end of their contracts. Is 3 more years of Kane worth it? We wouldn't have to worry about unloading Ovechkin's contract and probably wouldn't need to resign him at that point but Kane, you have Eichel/ROR/Okposo/Ristolainen contracts coming up or already long-term and then some.

We have to consider our cap long-term here as well. I think Patrick Kane, I mean everyone would love to have the hometown boy, but the cost and term isn't desirable. Unless of course ROR is going back like you suggested but does Chicago want him? He's established himself as a 20-goal, 60-point guy. A good 2-way center who's great on the face-off.

Patrick Kane is a .ppg player in his prime with a gigantic contract, the only American Art Ross winner in NHL history and 3 Stanley Cup victories with loads of playoff experience... I think Chicago wants younger and cheaper guys and Reinhart/Nylander fit that bill better but still. That contract...

As far as my proposal I sent ROR not Reinhart strictly for cap purposes for the Sabres.

The Hawks save $3 million between Kane and ROR's contracts and get 3 more ELC guys...

The Sabres keep Reinhart but bring on $10.5 million in Kane while $10.5 or so goes out with ROR Nylander Baptiste and 8th overall

Chicago gets 4 players for $10.5 million and RFA control for 3 of them and a good player in ROR who is better than Reinhart right now.

That is why I went with ROR and not Reinhart

Yeah, which is why I touched on him being basically equivalent to a cheaper Toews. They don't need another underachieving 2-way center, do they?

Chicago would be smart to move one of Kane or Toews now.

They won their 3 cups with them, if they reload with future assets now, that would be wise.

But they won't, because nobody does. Chicago will have a few more first round exits/miss playoffs then be stuck with them in their 30's

ROR is in my opinion better on the wing anyway, just because he can win faceoffs doesn't mean he is better suited for the pivot.

Trading them Reinhart who isn't near ROR's level yet isn't going to get it done either.

That being said Toews is the guy they should be looking to trade.

Yeah, they by all means should trade Toews, he's the player other teams would want most and probably the easiest to unload because of that, considering the contracts of Seabrook/Kane/Keith/Hossa.

lol, right? If it's one thing Buffalo fans do good, it's overvalue and covet our own players way too much.
