And on top of that, I don't see him as a particularly good forechecker either. Nor do I see him winning his share of battles in the corners after he does get in on the puck.
Ghosts game is about space and time. When he has it he is deadly, when he doesn't, not so much. - MBFlyerfan
Plus his vision of the ice is set from the back end. There's more time and space inherently built into rushing the puck from the back.
His weaknesses on D are over played in my opinion. |

Agreed. He will never be Ray Bourque, but I also don't think he is Paul Coffey. His defensive game will always be about positioning and moving the puck quickly. If he gets stuck in the corner with someone or muscling some guy in front of the net we just need to hope for the best.

When I think about some of our young defensemen, what springs to mind, who would I trade first once all the kids are up. First name to is Shayne Gostisbehere. I don't want to trade him but I think he's the weakest of the bunch. Not very big, not very strong and very weak in his own end overall. However, do any of you think he could transition from defense to wing. His speed used for forechecking and offensive skill, I wonder if Ghost could make the leap or we simply trade for him down the road for a national forward. - SuperSchennBros
I will agree with being open to trading him when I see at least one of Sanheim/Myers being able to do most of what he does offensively and being superior defensively.
I don't think either one of them will ever be as dynamic as he is, as he has to walk the line aggressively to be effective, but I see Sanheim and Myers as just being more traditional point producing defenders.
As for converting him to forward, no thanks. |

As I've said before, when it all shakes out, ideally he will be a third pair guy who is also getting good minutes on the PP.

He also mentioned that the Flyers had a lot of bad luck this past season.
I also hope he is just being coy. Hopefully just playing dumb as well. - StepfordSam
I don't think it's anything to be concerned about. He was just making a comment to the media about the stroke of good luck that brought the #2 pick. The team didn't exactly have good luck this season but it's no excuse. Other comments Hextall has made tell me he doesn't view it as one either. |

I personally am excited for the "I personally wouldn't sign him for that much" discussion about Ghost in 2 years (Brayden Schenn anyone?) - YuenglingJagr
We should've signed Simmonds to a bridge deal |

Literally everything the Flyers say, don't say, imply, don't imply, do or don't do is cause for the most intense scrutiny, frenetic handwringing, and accusations of sheer incompetence. In case you hadnt noticed... thats what we do here. |

The Flyers should not use their future franchise center as a bargaining chip to rid themselves of Andrew MacDonald, or anyone for that matter. This is (barring a significant injury to one or more of their best players during the season) their one and only chance to get someone like this |

Scrutiny implies careful, thoughtful examination, so, no. The other two, absolutely. lol |

I almost did say not speaking directly to you.
Anyway, I just felt like saying it because I have seen it mentioned (seriously) multiple times |

So far, here are my Conn Smythe favorites for each of the remaining teams:
Pittsburgh - Jake Guentzel. I would have said Crosby, but if he's out long term, it's gotta be Guentzel. Malkin is close. Fleury has been too inconsistent to get closer than 3rd.
Washington - Nicklas Backstrom. He's the guy that everything runs through. Holtby had a less than spectacular first round, and OV hasn't been lighting the world on fire. (frank) Shattenkirk.
NY Rangers - Brady Skjei. I still pronounced his last name as "Ski-jay" because this is America, dammit! I don't think anyone has stood out offensively for them (Zuccs maybe), the defense overall has been meh, and Henrik hasn't been his old self.
Ottawa - Craig Anderson. Bobby Ryan and EK have been good, but Anderson has been pretty solid before last night.
Edmonton - Cam Talbot. No one has really stood out consistently, even McDavid and Draisaitl, despite them winning. So it goes to Talbot, for now.
Anaheim - Ryan Getzlaf. Dude is, to me, a stronger version of what Toews was a few years back. Has taken charge on Anaheim. Gibson got considerations as well, as did Silfverberg.
Nashivlle - Ryan Ellis. This was REALLY close, as Rinne is 100% deserving. Right now, they'd be my top 2 picks leagie-wide. Rinne has been playing like the man who signed his extension, but Ellis has excelled at everything this postseason. Forsberg and Josi are in there, too.
St. Louis - Joel Edmundson. Never ever heard of him before, but he's having a heck of a playoffs. Another team where I don't think there's a clear-cut #1, but he's the most deserving. Jake Allen as a 2nd. |

The only trade I want the Flyers to even consider come draft day is trading to get an additional 1st between the late teens mid twenties if someone they like falls. What do we have 9 or 10 other picks aside from the 2nd overall? It's really a game changer. |

I like what Schenn brings to the table a lot more than Ghost. I'm not even considering moving Schenn right now, while I would consider moving Ghost the second the kids on the back end are all regulars. Schenn played three less games than Giroux, with three less points. - SuperSchennBros
Ghost played six less games than Provorov, but scored nine more points. |
