Interestingly, Craig Button mentioned about 1:30 mentioned Patrick in the same sentence as McDavid, Eichel, and Matthews as #1 centers. Hopefully, he is correct if the Flyers draft him.

I can only imagine. I know I was completely thrown for a loop when the Flyers logo didnt come up at 15, 14, or 13.

At 15, I was like.. yeah.. this is us... two teams who were not us just moved up.

and 15 was NYI.

At 14, I was like.. yeah... ok.. one team who was not us just moved up.. this is us.

14 was Tampa.

At 13, I was totally.. like.. yeah.. ok.. at least we didnt get knocked down.

When the Winnipeg logo showed up at 13.... I thought perhaps someone, somewhere had made a mistake.

The realization that the Flyers might be drafting #1 was shocking. I'm conditioned to believing that the very stars in their courses struggle against the Flyers, that every God I've ever heard of, from Ashteroth to Yahweh (with Cthulhu in between) has it in for the Flyers. I was not ready for the notion that fortune had perhaps smiled upon us.

I can only imagine how much he relished telling the Vegas ownership who paid literally hundreds of millions of dollars to join the club, that they were indeed getting hit with the worst case draft scenario.

If *I* were the Vegas ownership, I would be quietly seething right now. First, the other 30 teams in the League got a whole year to figure out how to game the system and assure themselves of retaining the very best possible players, then... this. Oh, yes... I would be highly annoyed right now, were I the Vegas owner.

Jordan wasn't putting up 30-goal, point-per-game seasons in the CHL at age 16 or 100-plus points at 17. Patrick was. Not saying that Patrick is going to do that in the NHL but he has offensive upside as well as being a mature player without the puck, too.

Bill do you see any chance of Vilardi being seriously considered at 2 or is there a clear separation after Patrick and Hischier?

Dont get me wrong as I would be thrilled to have an Eric Staal type player, what team wouldnt want that.

I think of these two Im more interested, given the Flyers needs, in going with the player that has the higher offensive upside.. If that is Nolan great, if that is Nico great.
