After Craig Button brought in Darryl Sutter, King promptly fired Button and promoted Sutter to GM. It did work for a year or two but ended up setting the organization back. I'm a little perplexed by how the new arena thing is going but you're right, that may be coming from ownership more than KK.

Probably the very best thing he did was hire IMO one of the top coaches in the NHL. KK liked Sutter so much, he promoted him to his level of incompetence...bad decision. As for Button, he may not have been fantastic but that doesn't mean promote the coach to take his place. I actually don't blame King for not knowing a thing about hockey, it's Edwards who has it in his head that a media guy should run the team. If recall, before King it was the radio guy out of Vancouver; Ron Bremner. IMO Al Coates should have been the President / GM but that's all water under the bridge.
