I don't think they need mentoring but rather insulating, big difference imo.

This mentoring is horsesh1t. Do you really need 14 mil spent to teach a guy work hard and go to the gym? One lesson costs twice as much with the Sedins.

Edler and Tanev are both passive guys with the same style. You don't need both.

Mentoring from good players and good people is never a bad thing....the sooner you accept that the Sedins are going to be here until they decide to leave, the sooner you will be able to enjoy the rebuild.

I'm really stoked where the team is at and who is on the roster at this point. I haven't been back reading much but I'm amazed every time that I log in, how negative everyone is here.

This board for the most part has been calling for a cohesive direction an it's clearly now here

A guy who's not afraid to punch someone in the head, sticking up for his team mate.
- VanHockeyGuy

You need someone to eat the minutes a young guy whos learning the league shouldn't have to eat. Let a guy like Vermette get hammered with a -3 every night for 3 million dollars, you don't need to pay Henrik 7 million to do the same damn thing.

But the NMC'S

You are sort of correct but it is not the insulating what you think. Megna Hansen Granlund and Sutter were all put on the Sedin line to insulate them. They are too GD slow now. They need someone to go get them the puck and to get back quick.

Remember when that POS coward Martin went after Stecher? It wasn't Edler that insulated him it was Miller that had to rush to the rescue.

Don't think that kind of thing won't happen again.

Forget about Dorsett,
Gudbranson... not sure yet.

I've come to the realization that some people just want to complain.
Doesn't matter what happens.

I agree with you.
i'm happy with the direction, Benning and co. have moved out a coach that everyone was female doging about and hired a dude that has been in the wings for years.

They tanked at the TDL and moved aging assets for picks/prospects.

They will draft the best player they deem available and hopefully the Sedin's walk (traded?!? ) at the end of the year and we continue.

People appear mad at statistical probability lately...so...you know...

Linden's a smart guy, but he's in over his head on the process of building and he's too close to the Sedins. A bad combination.

Rebuilding means trading veterans for picks, which they've finally done this year, it means tanking at the TDL, which they also did this year....now they need to collect as many picks as they can and use them to pick kids not projects.

If you're rebuilding you're tanking, if you're tanking it means you're in the rebuilding process, they go hand in hand.

- LeftCoaster

I don't think you can make that claim on rebuilding is tanking. You can rebuild through the draft without planing to and making moves to tank. A lotto ticket and win gives you higher reward returns. But you don't need to bottom out to get it.

You are easily excited then . Do you enjoy watching paint dry also?

Seriously there isn't a whole lot to be happy about right now.

We have B prospects mostly and a soft old core . Question marks in goals , our rookie coach . A snake oil salesman for prez . Seriously what are you so excited about?

Someone did that to my team the very next shift that Matthews Marner or Nylander came out I would have a goon on pounding the crap out of them.

Case and point, but not at this country club. Easier to turn a blind eye and skate away. Makes me sick. I'd rather loose 10-1 than see that sh*t.

Theres a lot more kids in the system than in the past many years but you're right, most, if not all, of them are question marks.

We lost one of our top prospect Dman for nothing

We dropped 3 spots in a draft.

We fired a coach and replaced him with a coach that has never coahed a NHL game.

We are going to finish bottom two next year and I still have to see SEdins and Edler

We have a mgmt group that has finally realized that we have no legit prospects and a soft old core....you gotta start at step one.

I think people will be amazed at what AHL development does for prospects.

Isn't that right where we all thought the team would be though?
I get it's frustrating and we joke about it, but...it's part of the process.

People will get onboard when they see actual progress from the kids and they don't have to watch the Sedins and Edler any more.

I think Edler gets a bad rap but I'm ready for change.

Of course.....you know I've been critical of this group but that doesn't mean I'm going to ignore that they've started to get it.
