You should tell Sakic to do the same. Roy wouldn't have been picking top top 5 - Ihatebrianburke
Avs would have relocated if Roy was still there |

You guys are a much better team than they proved last year with injuries and whatnot. A top 5 pick, a couple trades, and definitely not the coach they hired, and I would expect them to be back competing for a playoff spot next season. |

Purging the roster of the Roy slow big body fwds and D while bringing in more of Bednar style guys will be a big boost.
As soon as Bednar had Jost, Compher, Lindholm, Barberio, and Andrighetto in the line up. They looked like such a better and more complete team. I feel confident they will be ok sooner than later.
I like Bednar as a coach, he just needs his fair chance of getting a roster actually tailored to how he wanted to coach and get his own coaching staff, not having all of Roys carried over. hes on a short leash but he deserve his shot next year |

Watching Principe interview Peca. He says he thought about that game 7 loss in 2006 every day for at least 2 years after. Crazy! |

What could have been if Rollie hadn't been injured. |

I'm more of the mindset that we can't have enough quality D prospects. As we've seen from our own pursuit of a top tier defender, and the Hall/Larsson trade, the price to get a Dman is astronomical these days. Teams resign their own guys and aren't trading them away. The only way to get them is to pay through the teeth, or grow them in house. Forwards are easier to acquire through trade or free agency every year. Sure we have a couple decent ones right now, but how many of them actually turn out, especially the ones past the 1st round? - Ihatebrianburke
I don't completely disagree with you overall, but that bolded statement can be said of mid-to-late 1st rounder Dmen, as well. In my experience, forwards like the ones I mentioned have a better "turn-out" rate than Dmen of the variety you mentioned in that area.
Don't get me wrong; I don't hate drafting Dmen but the ones you mentioned are bigger bodies with early birthdays (1998 as opposed to 1999) which gives red flags that their results are skewed by having more development time and by reaching their physical peaks early against much smaller competition.
The only Dmen likely available around there that I'd be open to drafting would be Brannstrom or Pierre-Olivier Joseph. Both very late brithdays with fantastic skating and projectable offense (comparable to Karlsson in Brannstrom's case). |

If Brannstrom is Swedish than yes. That country seems to be a blueline factory. |

Yup. For almost every guy on that roster (except Pronger of course) that was the closest they would get to a Cup. I still remember Todd Harvey crying on the bench. |

This should be the best game of the playoffs for Anaheim, I think the Oilers will have their hands full tonight.
Honestly, If the Oilers win tonight, the sky is the limit...biggest test tonight.
Good Luck
