According to the walking brain fart also know as Ron Cook in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the reason the Pens are successful so far is because of Maatta's "Stellar" play. I kid you not.

Honestly, I think he's holding him self much better than I anticipated being off so long and considering how he looked before going down. Now as for this being the x factor so far... That's a stretch...

Hainsey's OK. Thank god!

Yeah, but hopefully if the Pens are lucky enough to score a shortie again, Hainsey will remember they are still on a PK like he didn't do on Niskanen's PP goal.

I just can't get over the adjective Stellar to describe anything about Maatta's play this season. Obvious click-bait.

I wasn't having too much of an issue with him until he served up that sweet pass to a Capital in the slot. He usually makes pretty good decisions, that was not one of them. He wasn't being rushed all that bad either.

I actually do agree that he played well in round one. Stellar is going overboard, but I've been encouraged. Next year once Daley is off the team we could finally get that Maatta bounce back we've been waiting for.

Of course HCMS is going to say game time decisions even if he knows better. All part of the coaching chess match this time of year.

I'm with you. His skating is BARELY nhl quality. He's just hanging on most of the time. I still think he sees the game at a high level, but his legs betray him.

Who brought up the Hainsey PK blunder the other night? I mean, what the hell was that?

My gawd... Cook and Poni... Poni now saying Schultz has been the worst D.

Does he even watch these games? Hainsey, Daley, Maatta are all getting crushed. Thank gawd for Cole and Schultz.

I did. Awful wasn't it? All I could think of is he musta thought after we scored that it was even strength again.

Nah, Poni's not even a Pittsburgher and actually not a real fan of any of the teams. He's a NBA fan and no doubt only watches those games in context. He only watches condensed versions of the Pens games so he can kinda get caught up and hold a conversation about it without looking like a fool. Cook is a Steelers Yinzer and is pretty much as knowledgeable about hockey as Paul Zeise. Cook once proclaimed after the Pens traded Ryan Whitney that we'd miss him.
