I am thinking long term. Pens have Jarry and Gustafson. Resigning maf would be based on performance. Murray has shown to this point he is injury prone. It would be foolish not to see how much in futures he could bring back. If goaltending is solid without him trading him is thinking about the future. - ChrisMS
Again, you're basing this all on unproven commodities. Murray is a proven commodity. I wouldn't say he's proven to be injury-prone. It's one season with bad luck. |

1 season? He didn't start playoffs last year didn't start season this year and is out now... Murray being injury prone is getting pretty close to proven. |

He wasn't out very long last year in the playoffs. |

Definitely injury prone at this point. And I don't like his glove. He hasn't even done a full round of all teams in the league yet and there are cracks. But he is perceived high end right now and it could go either way. Let's not forget this wouldn't even be a discussion of not for expansion . Trying to make sure your team isn't raped without anything in return is the key. Maf has to be protected and deserves to be at this point. Do you want to consider losing Murray for Jack all? |

He was run into and elbowed (or kneed, I can't remember.) in the head in a meaningless game he should have never been playing in, and went out with a concussion. Any player in the league is susceptible to a concussion. If I recall,t he same thing happened to Fleury last season, but he was hit my Kunitz in practice.. |

That won't happen. But Marc's play has made a difficult situation better because now there are potentially two good outcomes. It's about which is the better outcome. Marc for a small return to a team e wants to play for... lose a team hero fan fav but also shave a couple mil off the cap. Piss letang Crosby off but replace him with a proven winner. Or Murray for a potential large return... risk Marc playing well past his mid thirties and a solid prospect panning out. Piss off sully, and many fans. Add a couple mil to the cap. It's a doozy but a good one |

Kind of like having your forward run into you in practice. It's a fluke. As most injuries are. The whole term "injury prone" is silly. 90% of the time, there isn't a single thing that players can do to prevent these injuries. They just happen. |

And Murray could come back and play 15 more years 65 games a year and deep into the playoffs. But the growing trend is disturbing. He's no maatta/letang yet but the pens need a playoff caliber goalie in the Crosby malkin window and where is he now? |

My POV.
MAF is earning every dollar he is paid and he is worth every penny. I said from the beginning we need .920 goaaltending to win this series. Check and then some.
Sid is doing every intangible to and beyond what anyone could have expected. We all figured Malkn would need to possess the puck more and deliver. F*ck that idea. Sid pulls up everyone's slack and is the engine that pulls the train up the mountain. Incredible athlete with a focus and leadership that is on a whole different level than most mortals.
Geuntzel is this little shrimpy guy that looks like a bad date for prom night. Seriously. Yet, he has the hands of a master puck handler and sniper. Wow.
The no name defense does what it does best. Excel at nothing and average at everything else. It doesn't seem to matter. Are we witnessing the re-emergence of 80's all offensive hockey? I wish I knew the answer.
What I do know is we are seeing a team that plays as a unit and cares about each other and winning at any cost. I don't know about you guys but frankly if you don't find what this team does inspirational you should reassess your life. This team cares. It's hard not to love every damn one of them.

I have been very critical of MAF. And his playoffs of the past have always haunted him. That is the type of performance we have been waiting for from this guy. But we have not gotten it until now. You are not drafted No1 overall to get the goaltending that he has give them. Now finally MAF has shown up. Lets hope he stays in the moment and does not fold like a cheap suit of the playoffs past. |

As far as MM is concerned, we will figure that in the off season. I hate all the off season talk in the middle of a cup run, especially one where they are 2 games away from beating the Caps. I feel like its bad mojo doing stuff like that. |

What could Murray, Maatta, Letang, Geno, and Sid have done better to not get injured? The only way to not get injured is to not play. That's it. |

So it's just blind dumb luck? Or could body type conditioning position etc etc all factor in? I'm not actually a firm believer in "injury prone" myself... I'm more playing devils advocate... but there are lots of people that are and Murray not starting his second playoff season in a row is a bad look. |

For what its worth Kelly Hrudey on Hockey Night in Canada said that Murray pulling his groin like that in warmup was an "indicator of a goalie who is not taking good care of himself"... |

In fairness, he really pulled it in the Jersey game. He just aggravated in the warm up. |

Last season... Elbow to the head, missed 2 games with a minor concussion (or was it a "neck strain?)... Doesn't count towards injury prone at this point.
Offseason(ish), hand broken in the world cup. Bleh, but broken bones don't count to the injury prone in nearly all minds. If he has brittle bones, that is an issue FAR worse than just injury prone.
This year, groin pull, didn't heal fully, reaggrivated before game 1 of the post season. That would be the only injury to factor in, but its his first, and we "Pittsburgh'd" it and rushed him back. Should he get a similar injury next year, you can start that labeling. |
