I'm happy the Devils won. And Vancouver lost.

Yes, 20 is young for a d-man, but a 5th pick should show something by that stage. Charlie McAvoy was a 14th pick in the same draft and has seen NHL games already. We'll see - I doubt he gets alot of chances past the age of 20 in Vancouver. I don't disagree with you, but with the state that the Canucks are in, I'm not convinced they will exercise great patience.

I see some of the simulated drafts have us getting Hague with our pick.

I was looking at highlights, looks good. He's a big kid, 6'6" 210, likes to hit... wonder how close he would be to NHL ready???

Also looking at Stone as a UFA. Then pick up Josh Manson from Anaheim's D, that kid is tough and gritty and hits. All of a sudden our D is completely revamped with speed and grit.

Rielly, Manson
Gards, Zaitsev
Hague, Stone
Polak

...instead of getting Shattensquirt this looks even better.

he's not NHL ready and he's not eligable for the AHL. Best scenario if we draft him is to let him go dominate the OHL and get his team to another championship like theyre at this year. Leafs are well stocked with forwarfds and i think people forget about the couple years before Hunter and CO were there. We just signed piccinich to a A deal which is amazing since it doesnt take one of our 50 roster spots.also from that draft is Joshua who went a PPG clip in his second NCAA season, Vesey who bounced back and has good blood lines, Toninato from 2 years before that who just captained his team to the championship round.. Engvall just joined the marlies. On top of those 5 who could maybe be somethiong we have every one hunter drafted and all the young guys on the leafs now. Theres only so many spots at the end of the day.....saying all this sure Hague would be nice but i think Foote would be better as hes a right shooter..Valamaki too maybe even before Hague, PPG second year junior player. 6`2 to boot.
Those will be the guys in that range...Timmins i watched play a couple time this year and always watched because his stats but honestly never stood out at all. Sometimes thats a good thing though

I prefer the three pronged approach.

I was also looking forward to finally getting to watch the Oilers in the playoffs... and naturally, they come out looking like this.

Game just got really good.

Edit that's a weak Anaheim goal.

Yeah... after the McDavid goal, I was like.. the Oilers got this!

But still... the game has gotten much more entertaining.

I've also come to dislike Anaheim quite a lot.

I would love to see the Leafs pick up Hague. Most mock drafts have him going around 20 to 25. I think he might get picked up before the Leafs pick because you can't teach 6'6" and he's the only skilled d-man that size. Might just make him irresistable to a team that is looking at Foote for example. I think he will be a really good pick up for some team - think Hamilton with a better shot and meaner/tougher. That said, whoever the Leafs pick up is unlikely to help next year. Doubt the Leafs management will rush any defensive prospects moving forward. They will add at least one, most likely two d-men from free agency or trade. Stone would be OK, I'm really convinced they will make a push for Shattenkirk. He has a rocket of a shot and would score plenty with the power play the Leafs have. I also like Manson alot, young, big tough. He will be available for sure, but Leafs will have competition there. Haven't heard much on Polak, his injury was gruesome - not sure if he will be in the plans next year.
