That's a shame. Crosby is an incredible talent. Hate to see him go down like that.

Keep in mind the game has made him equally as dirty as Ovi

Yeah, his history is not good: http://www.sbnation.com/n...iskanen-penguins-capitals

Someone said (not sure if verified) that his doc had told him one more and you're done. Wonder what the league would change, if anything, if that were the case.

Bartholomew you have to feel vindicated.

Edit: To go with my point that the NHL has to stop looking the other way...

“I’m not going to defend anything,” Trotz said. “You want me to defend Alex? Then is

- riozzo[Chris] Kunitz’s predatory hit on [T.J.] Oshie okay? Or the one on [Nicklas] Backstrom, is that okay? I’m not gonna debate about all that stuff. So that’s a terrible question.”

typical coach double talk...ovi clocks him (but give ovie credit he actually backchecked....a rare occurence) and niskanin finishes...

Have not heard anything about punishment but in light of the details and especially the victim I would expect Niskanen to get a long break.

Been awfully cloudy ever since the Hawks lost game 4 to the preds.

He shouldnt be suspended. The slash Crosby received right before the cross check was worse in my opinion. If Crosby wasnt diving after the slash his face would have never been where it was to be cross checked. Its hard to say the Caps player was targeting Crosbys head when Crosbys head was at his waste level.

I saw Crosby is out for Game-4 but I didn't see anything beyond that. Even if the Caps win Game-4, which is not a given, Crosby may be back for Game-5 and and then it's probably the Pens who win the series.

the refs have been soft on INT calls for 2 years now...its all over the ice; picks are now part of tactical play

If Crosby has a concussion he will be out for at least a week (Unless he plays while not 100%). With his history I'd guess 2-3 weeks therefore the pens are going to have to beat the caps without him.

The pens aren't going to come out and say that Crosby is out for the series because that would give the caps more motivation.

from the HF board it says that he is 6-5 220 and at the end the rumor is its down to DET and CHI with a lean to DET. He turns 22 next month. on the video below goto the 3 minute mark and he makes 3 intriguing plays. He is not slow and he does not look to have stone hands. Its pretty clear we lack size and speed and he looks to have both. would be nice to win a Young Big UDFA.

Since the team confirmed a concussion and given his history, do you think they'd really let him back after only one game? I'm sure both he and the coach would love to have him on the ice, but is it really worth risking a career-ending injury? We've seen that players will deliberately target injuries.

Yep, I see some karma in play. Not just Methot... all the way back to Crosby's defense of Orpik... along with their entire fan base.

Also, the ridiculous situational Walkom era of officiating needs to end. If they called this stuff consistently things like this would become less and less common. These playoff are looking more and more like pre-2008.

2013 was the peak. They called interference and holding aggressively. Led to some great hockey. Since then..... each year it gets worse. Another one of the Hawks issues is - though they have added some players who look like they can play that style (Hayden, Panik).... for the most part, there has been no adjustment in style on the ice or in drafting or acquisition off of it.

Last year's PO, Brouwer elbowed CC at least 2 times in the head, and then this PO Arvidsson elbowed him in the head. In the RS, numerous times he had been nailed in the head.....Some jersey's are different

It says he was in Nashville for game 4 against of round 1 and then spent the day with the Preds Swedes. That doesn't sound like a strong finish for the Hawks.

Only one single focus at this point for the Hawks drafting, coaching and marketing strategy. All of the NMCs/NTCs have left them no other choice but to focus on finding wingers that can unleash Krueger's untapped offensive potential. All other priorities need to be dropped.

Doesn't sound like a prospect to get overly excited about. He's not playing in one of the top leagues overseas.

I understand that. But would anyone give a poop it Crosby was the one who hit Niskanen? There was no uproar when Crosby did Methot's finger. Crawford catches his lunch every game and no one gives a poop. Lindros couldn't take it, his brother couldn't. Looks like Crosby can't either. There's some who say Toews can't.

I don't wish Crosby or anyone else any harm and feel bad he's hurt. If it was up to me I'd suspend Ovi for a game for the thump on the helmet. That was intentional and way up high. Niskanen's play was defensive and reactionary. He didn't bury the stick in Crosby's face.

Superstar treatment is bullpoop. Make the rules and then enforce them. And let the best team win.

Agreed completely on the need to evenly mete out punishment, regardless of who the player is. Think I misunderstood the point of the original post.

Was just trying to say all heads and therefore, all hits, are not created equal. Crosby's brain is probably like jello already.
