listen you twits. Emelin has one year left on his deal. he's a decent third-pairing defender who makes opponents think twice before coming down his wing. he can step onto a second pairing in a pinch and he's a serviceable PKer. yes he's overpaid anywhere from $1-$2 million.
but he also wouldn't have poop his pants the way every other defenceman on this team did when Rick Nash decided he was gong to be Carey Price's daddy sometime in game 3.
maybe he doesn't get picked because the way the protection rules are set up, there will be some pretty decent young-ish dmen available for Vegas. but he also might be picked because he's useful to a team that won't be capped out and that will probably suck and be looking to acquire assets at the 2018 deadline. |

they will pick up Beaulieu or Benn...the one not protected - Symba007
Probably Beaulieu, unless MB can package him somehow, then I really don't know who. |

Would you protect Emelin over Beaulieu or Benn?
I'm not being sarcastic, I completely understand your point btw.

If they want to rebuild, they can get Petry, draft a bunch of times until they get a McDavid. |

Best case scenario we get a former 1st pick that didn't pan out but still has time to. |

no. but i think they will trade Beaulieu and protect Benn. that's why i don't think it's out of the realm of possibility that Vegas takes Emelin. |

Or they could take our best offensive prospect in Charles Hudon. (I know it's sad)
I wouldn't be completely shocked if it happened. |

they'll take anything they can trade at the deadline.
they're better off with an Emelin or Plekanec that someone will overpay in picks for at the deadline than a guy who can't crack a team that scores 11 goals in a 6 game playoff series. |
