No it isn't! He's a troll. He likes to take his passive aggressive shot whenever he thinks he has the upper hand. Don't you remember him crying years ago "Guys, it's not a good time" after the rags lost a playoff round? He's a classic internet troll living in his mom's house. When the rags lose he goes and hides. |

On a side note, gotta feel bad for Colorado. They have arguably a GM that could be worse than Mike Milbury. It's getting pretty close. They'll still mess this up. |

Well I guess Hornick forgot we have Mr fingers crossed as our GM. It's always a good week in La La Land. |

I don't think JT is lazy. I think he busts his ass 100 % no matter what zone he's in.
I think he does make undisciplined plays, (not the smart play) in all 3 zones and a lot of that comes from trying too hard and again those issues would be corrected team wide with a coach that doesn't accept that and also has a better defensive structure.
I think JT would be a much better player defensively with the right coach and structure as we saw his defensive ability and awareness in his PK play this year. When on the PK he concentrated on defense and made the simple play and he was very effective imho. - nyisles7
I do think a good defensive structure would help JT and other others 7, but a defensive system has nothing to do with JT floating back into the d zone. We've seen him do this when turning the puck over many times. JT still needs to work on his overall game IMHO. He's played this game his entire life and he should know better regardless of the coach. |

I just don't see him as "lazy" in any zone honestly Ses.
I just think throughout his career in the Jrs and before his offensive abilities and success made him who he is as a player. Much like OV and others drafted for their offensive abilities. I think once in the NHL and playing against a higher level opponent
their lack of defensive discipline and knowledge is exposed and that's were a coach at the NHL / AHL level help a player to develop their defensive game at an NHL level.
Toughest part of making it to the NHL for drafted players is learning the defensive game at the NHL level, and quite honestly JT has been taught by The Islanders and it's coaches and no one else.
Again have you ever seen OV bust his ass back checking like he does now until Trots was his coach? |

I may be a little tough on JT 7. No question OV had the same issue. I think special players like JT and OV should no better, but maybe they do need the coaching to push them into focusing on the D game? |

This is it Dan and most teams might feel they have better coaching and play a better defensive system that would make Hamonic even better. |

They do Ses, imho.
Players like Bergeron in Boston, J. Toews and Kopitar are not the norm.

I feel like he back checks hard on turnovers committed maybe not all the time but 95% if you really watch he does huslte |

JTs biggest problem imho Upstate, which I feel are from him trying to hard and trying to make the great pass or deke instead of making the smart, easy play.
This would be improved with proper coaching, imho as well. If it's unacceptable even if your a superstar and your called out on it (not publicly) and it's pointed out in video sessions then it starts to sink in and becomes second nature. |

I meant in general but yes sometimes simple is better. When you have his hands it's probably hard not to try though |

For sure, 100% agree. But having the discipline to make the easy play make the great players even better.
Just coming off the ice in OT when your gassed instead of pushing yourself is a prime example. How many times have we seen this?

because he is affordable to a lot of teams - Dan Petriw
He can get you a middle 6 forward because he is a 2nd pair dman. His age and injury history are factors as well. Even in a package, teams who are buyers won't want him unless they're shipping out a middle 6 forward. Same with sellers because Hamonic is 26, which is not necessarily what a rebuilding team is looking for. A rebuilding team is looking to stay young and injury-free when it comes to dmen who aren't top pair.
Not saying he's bad, just saying people tend to overrate his trade value due to his physical play. |

Look he would be part of a package for a player and for a team that needs a 3/4 defender he fits the bill and is locked in at a reasonable cap hit. These factors make him attractive to the right teams and Tampa is a team against the cap and needs d depth. He would fit their needs so it makes sense, now you can argue with us all |

Oh every time he's out. Also kills me that they don't exit the offensive zone with possession to change players and regroup. Every other team does it |

Not for a top 6 forward. |
