Oh I see. So she's basically in charge in name only for NFL rules.
- Matthews_Auston

It's not even about "rules" so much as getting the owners to approve the purchase back in 2014.

I believe the official NFL records state that the Bills are owned by "The Pegula Family".

I don't see where an issue is arising? We possibly have 3 LHD, we need 3 LHD. If we sign Antipin and he is as good as the accolades that he seems to be getting in the KHL, then great, he plays top pair with Risto. We all know McCabe belongs on the middle pair, and Guhle is a rookie, so sheltered minutes on the bottom pair.

Risto - Antipin
Bogo - McCabe
Falk/Gorges - Guhle
Nelson- Austin

May not like Bogo or Gorges, but we're are stuck with them. A bigger deal may also go down this summer, but as of now I don't see our opening day roster being much different than this.

you're reaching hard here. If hes nikita zaitsev we're lucky, and zaitsev at this point is a 4.

He could be kempny, which is solid third pair.

I honestly don't know how good Antipin is, but it seems like he's this years Norris trophy winner of the KHL. So, how bad could that be? The KHL has some really good talent as well.

I have heard that Zaitsev and Antipin are comparable. If so he would be a solid 2nd pairing guy. Nothing wrong with getting a guy like that without giving up any assets.

Darryl Sutter intends to take another NHL job, but he plans to wait for what he feels is the right fit.
That doesn't mean that he'll only be taking a job with a team in a certain situation though as Sutter expressed an interest in both being part of a rebuild or serving on a team already in a position to compete. It's not clear what he would consider to be the right fit, but regardless it sounds like we're going to be seeing more of Sutter. He has a career 634-467-101-83 record as a head coach and won the Stanley Cup twice with Los Angeles.

Top 4 not Top 2 is what I have seen and heard. thats our issue...we need a couple d men that can play top minutes. Ristos game needs to grow a bit more to be considered a top pairing d man but hes doing fine right now with the massive workload he had to handle

If it was up to me im trading everyone not named risto or guhle. McCabe you have to make me a pretty good offer to lose him and his very friendly contract

As of today, he's Risto's partner
1) sign Antipin
2) get RH defenseman for 2nd pair
3) try to upgrade McCabe

I get what you're saying,
But we also have work to do before we trade him imo

- jdfitz77

If we want to be a serious playoff team, that either needs to be a 2nd pair, or Risto needs a legit top pairing partner.

If they get a guy who is a top quality RHD now, or one that they think is close to being that now, the left side of McCabe, Antipin, and Guhle will be plenty good enough.

Why again as we getting rid of McCabe and his $1.6M salary for the next two years for somebody who is only marginally better as of last season, and much more expensive?

how the (frank) is that wet blanket? a free asset as a 2nd pair guy is great and i genuinely mean that.

Just because i dont think some mid 20's d-man out of russia isnt capable of playing 25 minutes a night as a top pair guy doesnt=wet blanket.

They're not going to be a serious playoff team next year, so don't frank around this time by replacing somebody that is good and getting better who makes $1.6M to supposedly speed things up.

calling him 2nd/3rd pairing isnt a knock. Finding guys out of europe at entry level money who can play that role is great. But you set yourself up for failure if hes coming in as the answer to risto's partner at top pair minutes.

Why does any of the top 4 need to play 25 minutes a night.

How about the entirety of the top 4 be good enough that they can all play 22-23 minutes a night so one guy or two guys don't wear down during the season?

agreed but this supposes a scenario where another RHD of high end quality is added, likely reducing the average ice time of everyone already here.

his original scenario had bogo playing top four minutes, which indirectly would mean antipin getting risto level ice time. that's dangerous.

Risto - Antipin
Bogo - McCabe

that was the top 4 in his scenario.

Guess which two suckers get overused over 82 games in this set up?

I wouldn't actively shop McCabe. But if he's part of a package to bring in a #1-2, yeah absolutely.

And this is a shame by the way.

I think they can be one, with a few good moves by a good GM.

All 4?

Like seriously, are we going to saddle Risto, who's been anchored/anchoring our #1 spot by putting him with a rookie?

I believe Antipin is a left-handed shot, but plays right defense
