Sens fans are saving their money for the Finals. This team can make it there.

Also, who cares how many fans are in the seats. What does that discussion do for anyone?

I'm not saying this to be a troll, I'm just curious. If it was Ottawa and Washington in the first round, how do you think it would have played out?

I have a buddy who moved to Ottawa last year.

He said it is a breeze getting in and out and to the game compared to Leafs games.

It's quite sad actually

I think the Sens do fine in revenue. They have a great regional TV contract and I'm sure they make enough at the gate and merchandising that they're well in the black as far as operational costs.

But how often do you hear a Senators fan complain about getting ignored and disrespected by the national media? How often do you hear "I'm sick of hearing about the Leafs, what about Ottawa?" Aside from the CBC, the national hockey media isn't mandated to serve the country equally, they focus on which teams are most relevant. Relevance isn't defined by success on the ice, it's defined by how many people care. The truth is, Ottawa is a small market team with a somewhat fickle fanbase. How do I know that? They can't sell out every playoff game. That's not necessarily a bad thing, they still turn a profit, it's just a fact. So if you're ever wondering why Ottawa isn't given the attention that other teams are, there's your answer.

I didn't say anything about the Maple Leafs, I just asked how he thought Ottawa would have fared against Washington. Do you have an actual opinion on that?

I actually don't because it didn't happen but you only brought it up because you think the Leafs losing in 6 to Washington was some sort of accomplishment.

Look how good the Leafs are everyone, they squeaked into the playoffs and lost in the 1st round by losing the last 3 games of the series.

I brought it up because everyone is acting like Ottawa is so much better than Toronto because they're in the second round and the Leafs got bounced in the first. If you're going to ignore the fact that Toronto was up against the best team in the league and Ottawa beat a pretty weak Boston team then you're almost too stupid to have an opinion.

Ottawa should have beat Boston and they actually went out and did it, I'm not taking anything away from that. But if you're going to say that makes them so much better than Toronto then you better also be ready to say that Ottawa would have beat Washington. Is that what you're saying?

lmao, I bet you were really mad typing that eh?
Yes I'm a big stupid poopy head.

I never said anything about Sens being better than the Leafs you're the one coming in here trying to start that argument. I think it's hilarious how people keep saying how that series was such a big success. You brought up the subject matter because you want to throw the retort "the Sens would be lucky to lose in 6 to the Caps". Look it was so obvious you were trying to do that anyone with half a brain spotted it.

So the Leafs "squeaked into the playoffs" with 95 pts. and a team full of rookies, but the Sens SAILED into the playoffs with 98 pts., a team full of vets and the best D in the league.

A difference of 3 pts. Wow.

I'm very happy with the season and how the playoffs went. They played great and went from 30th to this with a bunch of teenagers.

I'm happy about it. I could care less what your opinion is of the season. I'm sure you lose sleep over the fact people are laughing at the Sens not being able to sell out a playoff game. I mean we all think it's pretty funny.

The Sens are in the 2nd round...so enjoy that. But don't get mad at people for talking about not being able to sell out a playoff game.

Oh great, a "u mad bro?" response. You're very clever.

Maybe you didn't directly say that the Sens are better than the Leafs but you responded to a post about that topic that wasn't even directed at you, putting yourself into the conversation. I didn't even start the argument, I just asked a question about a statement that was already being made.

As for why I brought up Washington, I think I clearly stated that in my last post. Read it again, or get an adult to read it and then explain it to you.

Yeah man the Leafs are awesome, cup is theirs next yr man, guaranteed man.
The Leafs finished in 8th place and made the playoffs by 1 point, that's not squeaking in?

Look everyone knows why you brought up Washington and you're the one who resorted to personal insults 1st so give the adult shtick a break as you're the one who started acting like a child.

Again, I explained exactly why I brought up Washington, there are no ulterior motives, it's right there in my post. If you don't get it, just say "I don't get it" and move on. Stop trying to pretend it wasn't a valid question.

You're deflecting because you know how narrowly the Sens held their spot. There were teams outside the playoffs with higher ROW than OTT! Four points less and the Sens are in 9th. Yet, the Leafs still made with a team full of rookies and only they squeaked in.

See the contraction and absurdity of your statement now, smart guy?

It wasn't a valid question, it was a question you asked so you could start some sort of argument about why you think the Leafs are better than the Sens. The Sens didn't play Washington in the 1st round so nobody cares how they possibly would have done against them and then comparing that to how the Leafs actually did against them.

Anyway my lunch is over so I'm out.

What part of my statement was a contradiction smart guy?

Did the Leafs not finish in 8th?

Did they not make the playoffs by 1 point?

Leafs made the playoffs because of LOSER points, as i said they squeaked in.
That statement is 100% accurate.

Look Leafs might be good next year, but they lost their last 3 games of the season to be eliminated from the playoffs.

enjoy the rest of your day

Right, because hypotheticals have never had a place in sports discussions, just like no one makes predictions about a series before it happens. What was I thinking

I think I overestimated you when I started responding. My bad. Excuse me while I back out of this one.

You're still avoiding the point that Ottawa also squeaked into the playoffs and narrowly finished where they did. Fact.

The Sens were fortunate that Toronto finished the against WSH, TB, PIT and CLB.

Fact is more that they were in the 2nd spot of the division for most of the season and almost first until the last 2-3 weeks of the season when a bunch of their best players got hurt (Karlsson, Stone, Ryan, Methot, etc...) and then weren't performing as good...

I don't see the relevance of this to a Senators blog concerning an NYR v OTT playoff game.
The Senators are in the second round and the Leafs are not.
The Senators blog discussed our victory over NYR.
The Leafs blog is about hunting for more talent at the worlds.
Enjoy your blogs.
We are enjoying watching our team playing meaningful hockey!
