This is why after we get our center this draft that we should really focus on drafting and trading for dmen prospects that can carry the offense. This should be a priority for next seasons draft with all of the high end talent there.

Im hoping for a Nashville type defense with 4 high end guys.

- mauryballstein

Hi end mobile defensemen are better trade value as well.
Carolina has done a nice job of acquiring good young defensemen over the last few drafts. They have put themselves in a good position to move one or two to acquire the missing pieces they may need to compete.

@Maury

seem to be in the minority, but i'm happy with the hiring too.
perhaps coinciding with mgmt's acceptance that the team is rebuilding and looking to the youth, but i see these as all positives that the team is moving in the right direction.

just think, after we recover from whatever draft mistake we make, we can look forward to an entire season of Sedin trade proposals!

Sedins, rights to Tryamkin for ?

Haven't weighed in yet because I honestly didn't know enough about his philosophy until I watched the presser, but I'm 100% on board. All things considered, not sure there's another option that would've made more sense at this point in time (including my original preference Kreuger).

haven't seen those polls.
It seemed like most on here were unhappy with the hiring.
But that's nothing new.

we are a depressing and cynical bunch here!! 1040 did a poll and I saw a few internet polls!!!!

http://www.tsn.ca/patrick...sn-draft-ranking-1.736258

just as I have been saying, Heiskanen would move into the top 5 and Liljegren will move out of the top 10. Suck it Fry.

fascinating that Nico and Patrick are now tied on a survey of 20 scouts from 20 teams.

New top 5:
Nico
Patrick
Vilardi
Heiskanen
Mittel

TSNs list is pretty much identical to how I see things playing out. It appears that the rankings are becoming less volatile as we move closer to the draft.

Good blog Carol.

This is a ridiculous statement from Trevor:

“He understands young players," explained Linden. "He knows how to manage young players. He knows how to set the bar on accountability — what’s expected — and the preparation that’s required."

What coach in the NHL doesn't have experience mentoring young players? Those aren't discernible traits. Trevor just basically described every coach who's ever coached.

I yearn for substance.

- bloatedmosquito

lol...seriously? Every NHL coach who has ever coached works good with youth?

Would you like a jump to conclusions mat as well?

With Travis Green in the coach's chair, the Vancouver Canucks have officially announced that they're rebuilding.

My buddy said he saw something on BC1 about contract issues between Canucks and Horvat. I can't find anything, has anyone heard something?

I had heard that it might take all summer long, which is why Horvat won't be playing at the worlds.

Id like to see them go at the deadline and get a cup even if we dont get much for them. Worked for Ray Bourque and it would be nice to see them get a cup.

I dont want to deal Tryamkin at all, that one would hurt in a couple years.

I'd like to see them retire tomorrow and have Edler ask to be moved at the draft. Slam this re-build into high gear, not to mention giving Vantel the biggest thrill of his life.
