Tanev for Kapanen+1st I think they'd go to Anaheim with that offer! But no thanks
- MR.Hunter

I don't agree. Stock for canuck castoffs has risen exponentially. Look at these playoffs:

Bieksa
Kesler
Burrows
Grabner

Not to mention past players and managers alike:

Booth
Corrado
Santorelli
Nonis
Burkie

I think the canucks are in the proverbial "drivers seat" when it comes to any Tanev trade negotiations. And that's so (frank)ing cool!

He votes but he only researched one candidate, Travis Green.

His PP had stunk, which led to his dismissal from the Canucks. His PP with the Coyotes stunk, and he got fired again. Why would we entertain hiring him when we had a better/more competitive roster in 2011/2012 and it still stunk.
- Codes1087

he was fired from here when they canned the entire staff.
I dont follow the coyotoes so I wouldnt know.

Hear what youre getting at though.
Be nice to know whos running the special teams this season

This seems an odd thing to do for a g.m./management team, not to interview or go though a process of candidates and hear different opinions, views, strategies, and their visions,I guess to tie their anchor to one boat it's sink or swim? but if they fall on their faces ,everyone's fired and a bunch of new guys start the process all over again! I know what that's like! well good LUCK ! hope it works out, bye for now my favorite fans!

I feel like there is this sense of urgency when trying to find a coach/assistant/AHL coach, and whenever we hear of a firing, we automatically try to see if they are available and would be a good fit. I think we need to raise our standards a little bit. Newell Brown was fired, but for a reason. Hitchcock/Ruff the same. The term "Scraps" should apply to useless coaches the same way they are applied to useless players. The only reason I would give Mike Kitchen a look is because I think his firing was a general message from Bowman to assert dominance over the coaching staff and players that no job is safe. Kitchen has a pretty good resume, and his stats with the Blackhawks are well documented.
I get that you have to weigh the pro's and con's of taking an experienced fired NHL coach, or an inexperienced AHL coach, but regardless, all decisions should be well thought out.

I like the Ryan Johanson quote about being a players coach yet still being a hard ass. Makes me feel much better about him getting the job. That is type of coach I was looking for.

Next up. Drafting Nico Hischier.

Followed by trading Chris Tanev for Kapanen + 1st.

- Scooby_Doo

Not enough for Tanev.. If hes going we should be getting back a Dman prospect to replace him with. After drafting a center this year our biggest need is top end Dmen prospects.

@Maury

seem to be in the minority, but i'm happy with the hiring too.
perhaps coinciding with mgmt's acceptance that the team is rebuilding and looking to the youth, but i see these as all positives that the team is moving in the right direction.

just think, after we recover from whatever draft mistake we make, we can look forward to an entire season of Sedin trade proposals!

Sedins, rights to Tryamkin for ?

this is bang on. You can say all you want, that you want D-man to act more like Doughty's or Hedman's or Karlsson's but unless you have that high calibre D-man, you can't ask them to do things that they just can't do. We have no current D men that can do that.
- Codes1087

This is why after we get our center this draft that we should really focus on drafting and trading for dmen prospects that can carry the offense. This should be a priority for next seasons draft with all of the high end talent there.

Im hoping for a Nashville type defense with 4 high end guys.

Id like to see them go at the deadline and get a cup even if we dont get much for them. Worked for Ray Bourque and it would be nice to see them get a cup.

I dont want to deal Tryamkin at all, that one would hurt in a couple years.

If green wants the defenders more involved (scoring )their in for a lot of hurt!,they'll be caught up ice and goals against will increase drastically! And the team does not have that type of dman man until the kid from london develops
- MR.Hunter

I totally agree! We need a better dman man asap!! We also need more exclamation points from our power play asap!!

actually, given various polls I would conclude that Green was the preferred candidate. There was a drunk minority that wanted Crawford of course.

that's the dream.

it seems like it is next to impossible to trade them together to a contender, for cap reasons alone (even if Vancouver retained max salary possible).

It would be a great story if they actually agreed to go to separate teams for the first time in their careers @ the TDL and for playoff push(s).

Henrik and right to Tryamkin to Mtl for Gallagher.
Daniel to Ana for a 1st rounder + prospect.

haven't seen those polls.
It seemed like most on here were unhappy with the hiring.
But that's nothing new.
