D take longer to develop?

It's not like they won't get another top 5 pick or 3.

- golfingsince

Trade for a second first and get Foote, or next year try and draft dahlin. Sedin has one more year

Cant argue we need a playmaker once henrik is gone, but if they land at number 4 they should still draft one of the top centers, even at 5 i wouldnt mind Glass, cant see drafting a dman top 5 two years in a row when they need centers now.
- phyllee

Canucks need everything, but nothing "now" IMO. They are a few years away from anything and should take this year to pick the player they see with the highest ceiling. Though Dahlin is a prize, we cant avoid picking a potential top D because we expect the team to be lucky enough to select one the following draft

I was so surprised that Conley went 24th.
- SRam19

He's a little bit of hand technique away from being the best DB in the draft (but who knows if he'll get that development in Oak). Would have been perfect opposite Sherm tho.

Why not
Love having a strong defense core of prospects

So we don't end up like toronto. I am going laugh my A$$ off when they severely overpay for a d-man because there defense prospects suck.

- classic321

I am not opposed to the idea...but I fear Heiskanen isn't their topped ranked D so I want them to go with a center. Nico-Patrick-Vilardi-Mittle-Glass....any of them is fine. I don't think they will consider Vilardi as he may end up a winger.

I love how they were able to trade Seth Jones and they barely lost a step.
- classic321

They also lost Suter and Hamhuis for nothing in free agency, minor setbacks. Turned an aging Weber into Subban, and spent another draft taking a D in Fabbro last year.

Since the lockout season, the Preds have only missed the playoffs 3 times

Im pissed that steelers took TJ Watt instead of foster. TJ already has a messed up knee and we already have pretty good OLB's.

But, i guess they always have a plan for the future.

- SRam19

I didn't know that.

Foster has the ability to be an absolute stud. I just find him a little small and with the concussion history and the off field poop I had him slide down my board.

I had Davis as my top inside LB, but I would have taken Foster ahead of Harris.

Yes they need everything now but when Henrik leaves or even now Center is our biggest hole, on D got juolevi, Brisbroise (JB says will be a top 4 unlikely but still), Hutton, on center we have what Horvat. In a draft that has 4 top centers where the canucks are picking, id just go with a center and draft d in the 2nd and later rounds. The move id be most happy with is getting a second 1st to draft Foote

If Foote projected to be a #1D then he wouldn't be around mid-1st round.

I think you'll be pretty happy with the pick when all is said & done.

He won't see the field until Harrison turns 56.

All they need is a 2nd line center and an upgraded 4th line.

They got scoring wingers on their 1st and 2nd lines.

Thats not a very good point, look at all the stud Dmen that werent drafted in the first round and are top defenceman. Any position could be a hit or miss because these are just projections of kids in junior. Foote has been hovering around top 8-15 all season, thats still pretty good

They'll find something for him to do... Dude's athletic fingerprint is basically identical to Khalil Mack's, so he's a monster with football IQ/instincts which means a pro coaching staff drafting him for a purpose is definitely going to get more out of him than a college program plugging him into a system.

I dont think it matters much, as unless its Nico/Nolan, the C will have a tough time making a case to stay in the NHL this season. So when the Sedin's retire/contract expire you wont be throwing a 19 year old rookie into top 6 C role anyways, so they would bring in a stop-gap C regardless.

Timing wise with how long it take D to develop, particularly later round D, I think the preference would be to take a top D ahead of the other C's (if they feel he is actually a top offensive D)

That's a worse point. Look at all the Dmen that weren't drafted in the first round that never played 100 games.

I mean by that logic we can get a 1st line C by acquiring another pick or find a Datsyuk.

I really have no issue picking a top D prospect 3 years running and hoping 2 of them hit.

It's the Steelers, one of 3 pro teams that churns out stud LB's.

For the reasons you listed though, I want the Fins to draft Anderson in the 3rd round.

More or less i was comparing Foote to a better Brandon Carlo, Carlo dropped down to the second round, and he was a good for boston. Ideally yes we could use a second pick to draft Glass probably between 8-12, but id much prefure patrick/nico/vilardi/mittlestadt over a dman in this draft

I just find it annoying, that every year our need is to find a CB, and we draft a god damn OLB or LB.

why? is there any team in the league that doesn't have a few veteran players? No
- CanuckDon

Sedins, Edler, Eriksson & Tanev.
Miller will want term, I don't see him signing one year to face 50+ shots a night.
I don't care if Markstrom sucks, so do the Canucks.

Edler will hopefully be traded and the Sedin's are done in a year. If Miller wants term he can frank off. If he signs for 1 or max 2 years it's not a sign they aren't rebuilding. Give the kids decent goaltending.

done as in leaving the Island? Burn your Canucks jersey? quit hockey buzz?

You're so gullible, it simple means I'd have less interest in the team until they're gone. I've been watching the same movie for too long.
