So Hansen gets you goldy in a trade that most think van wins ...and everyone here went on and on about how great Hansen was ...so add a first rounder to goldy and that's Tanev ...but kappy>goldy...so it's a good deal for van
- Redmile247

Put the Dobbie down. Hanson had value but a mid 1st rounder in a historically crapshoot of a draft isn't the difference between him and Tanev.

I feel like there is this sense of urgency when trying to find a coach/assistant/AHL coach, and whenever we hear of a firing, we automatically try to see if they are available and would be a good fit. I think we need to raise our standards a little bit. Newell Brown was fired, but for a reason. Hitchcock/Ruff the same. The term "Scraps" should apply to useless coaches the same way they are applied to useless players. The only reason I would give Mike Kitchen a look is because I think his firing was a general message from Bowman to assert dominance over the coaching staff and players that no job is safe. Kitchen has a pretty good resume, and his stats with the Blackhawks are well documented.
I get that you have to weigh the pro's and con's of taking an experienced fired NHL coach, or an inexperienced AHL coach, but regardless, all decisions should be well thought out.

- Codes1087

absolutely. THat was well said btw.

Yes kitchen was running it during their glory years. I like your take on his firing.

Brown has a long long history of success going back to the 80's. Dont know what happened in Arizona, but it IS a trainwreck there.

We will see if the canucks even hire another assistant or not but Id say we need it.

Id like to see them go at the deadline and get a cup even if we dont get much for them. Worked for Ray Bourque and it would be nice to see them get a cup.

I dont want to deal Tryamkin at all, that one would hurt in a couple years.

Tanev is not a top pairing Dman, at most he is a Top 4.
And a Top 4 can land you Taylor Hall.

Taylor Hall for Tanev, gitr done Trader Jim.

- SRam19

Im a bit leary of Hall despite his skill. Its like they trade him out and the team instantly becomes successful. Dont know what to say about it.

Larsson is trash.

Tanev is in the top 1% in terms of all D-men in shot suppression

That's all while starting 60% of starts in the defensive zone

And he is a right shot

then lets keep him

How do coaches become coaches? Don't NHL coaches start their careers developing their skills? At some point in time a coach is going to mentor young players. They can't get experience otherwise.

EDIT: the only coach I can think of who walked into a NHL coaching position with no coaching experience at all was Wayne Gretzky. All coaches are good with youth because they are coaches.

some interesting ideas there. I think you did well with this
Nice 1st line combo, Id say they are 2nd line and horvats line is 1st, but still Kane Patrick Svechnikov sounds very very good. good combo you created

Corner...Jackson or King.

If they really wanted an edge player then either Watt or a trade down. I actually like Jordan Willis over Barnett. Just feel like Barnett is going to be a rotational linemen at best, don't see the upside in the NFL despite his college numbers.

Titans had a hell of a 1st round, I like Davis and Jackson a lot. Steelers got a steal with Watt imo.

Suspend your disbelief "you know" say JB can do it "you know"

Like all these Oiler and Leaf plans. So why not 2 lotto wins, vet trades for prospects and a high end talent, in his prime, UFA for Nucks too?!? It's the draftist dream, right?

How else are we going to get though the "you know" times ahead "you know" without a "plan".

Davis was a reach IMO... WRs with drop issues are my biggest pet peeve. Adoree's awesome though. & I'm definitely looking forward to seeing how the Steelers utilize Watt.

One can only dream "you know" that JB gets it done "you know" and Nucks luck out with the lotto. Only way any teams have ever had the fast turn around is with luck.

By the way in that fantasy scenario those new elite guys are eventually the 1st line like by 2020 for Cup contention. Why the interim 1L label to Brown, BO and BB the power, determination and finish of the killa B's who could be a "1B" line

As for the trade for Foote. That can be done another way just wanted to get rid of Guance and 2nds picking up Sens 2nd off the Swedish elite trade. As Sens Captain K , says after this playoff run, we are close. So Sens go for it. Their core is getting old, right, time to go all in lol. Well that would be be something. They grabbed Burr and he's doing well so keep the Nuck vets going. Why not vet Swedes too then. Proven playoff performers. Yah never know. lol. JB pulls of a Hansen like deal on panicky Habs. It's all in the realm of well we didn't see that coming but it happened lol.

So, did you see the D shake down? Those pairings, how you like them apples?

That's fair enough your opinion is yours ....question though ...is kappy the main piece or is the first rounder ?
- Redmile247

Can't imagine the Leafs trade a 1st for a guy who's never proven an ability to play a full NHL season.

They'd probably just prefer to draft Foote, Hague, Brannstrom or maybe even Timmins at 17/18

Yesterday I remember following Bloated and Lefty arguing. I do that more observe and reserve comment. Anyway, crux of it was that Bloated said Nucks need some luck to turn things around. Lefy believed you make your own. It's choices and action. Only then Nucks will prevail in rebuild.

Well it takes both of those angles working together I believe. Lotto luck to get a crack at the right pick plus luck of timing. Then choices with some moves to change the roster for the better. Last season we got top pairing D capable OJ. That choice was a smart pick. I was hoping for lotto luck to get Laine or Mathews. But it wasn't our turn then. Same with 2014 lotto no dice.

So here's to luck and choices. First off with Nucks winning this lotto for 1LC Patrick. Then again, next season, no matter where they finish, for shot at 1LRW Svechnikov. In between, JB trades off vets for pick/prospects that improve size in top 6 and D. Then signs UFA 1LW E.Kane plus RFA Tree to add needed pieces to rebuild.

With 1st line elite players, top pairing D and goalie in Demko the turnaround is complete, with luck and choices, as early as 2018-2019 season!
