killorn was not the only problem, but him not playing up to his usual standards makes the team not as good, as would be the case if any player didn't play up to their usual standards

what i've noticed from killorn this year was his ability to retrieve pucks dropped to an all time low, he lost a ton of battles, and he wasn't as hard nosed as he normally was. thats something tampa desperately needs him to do. like an ondrej palat except not as skilled.

it's almost like as kucherov said he didn't care. which i am positive is not the case. every player cares. but he was just going through the motions a lot of the time, and a guy like that is suppose to do the exact opposite

Well I guess you and I differ on TJ's importance to that potency. Now if he signs a team friendly deal then his return makes sense, however I do not believe that even if he signs here that he sees the end of his deal. With Howden showing well in Cuse, he will probably be here sooner rather than later. Point is going to be a mainstay at 2C, and obviously Stammer at 1C. The writing is on the wall that he will be priced out, and if not right now within the next 1-2 years he will be. If the right deal is there now, and with expansion draft there are more options than there otherwise might be, this could be the right time for a deal.

I think its a bit early to count in Howden at all next year, a couple of great games does not mean that much. Many guys have jumped into new teams and caught fire, lets just hope (and not expect) that its substainable. Also SY doesnt exsctly rush guys.

For me a potential TJ deal is just about quality for quality. The defense needs help and if we can get a good young D from ANA, MIN, LA, CA,WPG then why not? Get rid of a prospect or good/decent pick for a middle6 center and fill up some depth. Then we are good to go.

So either keep a solid depth on C and get some good, not great, help on D or have a very good defense and some questionmarks down the middle. There is some quantity in the system who could be next seasons Point, but to rely on it would be foolish.

Wichever direction, we gotta trust in SY to once again to do the best of the situation.

Also, dont forget the ultimate X-factor Ryan Callahan

Callahan has to go.

Is there any realistic way we can dump this guy?

I am unclear on the buyout rules, but is he a candidate?

If not, surely somebody would take him if we retain some salary and give up an asset to sweeten the pot?

I used to like Callahan at first, but I just don't see him being a necessary part of the team at this point. His contract has to be Yzerman's most glaring mistake and regret, although his hands were somewhat tied by the circumstances and MSL's demands.

As for TJ, I like him, but I also think he is expendable at this Point - pun intended.

Sustr is just awful, please get rid of him.

And please, do NOT trade Drouin. I love watching that kid. He's got major wheels and magic hands. I would not trade him for the likes of a Shattenkirk. The offer would have to be sky high - like Drouin's ceiling right now.

Callahan's buyout numbers

https://www.capfriendly.c..._calculator/ryan-callahan

Likely better to have Callahan on LTIR or as they call it in Toronto - Robidas Island.

I hope Drouin stays but his willingness to sign at an affordable number will likely influence SY's options and decision.

thats not gonna happen. Cally said that he will finally be fully recovered by next seasons start. Barring new injurys, we will have the leagues most expensive 3rd liner.

But its not impossible he bounces back. First year of his deal he was excellent and worth every dollar. Year after he was very unlucky and started to decline before injurys took its toll. If we can get first year Cally back then we have another threat in our lineup.

Would not bet on it thought

I'm not counting on Howden for next year. Nor Cirelli. But I do believe both will be here long before a TJ extension ends. My point with Howden was b/c of his level of play with Syracuse that he will be here sooner rather than later. There's a chance he makes it just like Point made it this season, but not a given. Yzerman doesn't rush players like he did with Connolly, but that doesn't mean players don't make the jump faster than others, Point being a prime example. It all comes down to each individual player and how they play. Point was always known to have high hockey IQ with sneaky skill. The drawback was his size. Howden has the scouting report of being a well rounded player who understands the defensive side which is why his game is translating to AHL so quickly. He's not doing this on the back of flashy skill plays, he's doing it by playing his smart game, attention on the defensive end, and finding pockets in the o-zone and front of the net...basically exactly what his scouting report says.

If TJ gets moved I have little doubt Yzerman will find a veteran 3C on a 1-2 year deal.

Calahan is not moveable with his injuries right now, and even if he were healthy he's negative value.

Sustr is gone. If I'm wrong then I will be shocked and certainly eat my crow but I just don't see him coming back at all

I'd rather trade TJ than Drouin for sure unless Anaheim is willing to deal Lindholm then I would really really have to think about it
