Good game guys. Pretty evenly matched teams.

Solid win. Both teams looked a little sloppy at times, but I thought the Sens were the better team overall.

Have to imagine the Rangers will be better in game 2. But I think the Sens will too.

On Hank, he can't maintain a .950 percentage throughout the playoffs

...right....right?

Unfortunately for the Rangers, Anderson's 0.971 sv% tonight was just a bit better, and the supposedly talent-less defensive Senators found a way to put up 43 shots on goal (more than twice the number of shots that the Penguins had against the Capitals). That must have come as a pretty big shock to some of the more arrogant Rangers fans, who just assumed that injuries were the only reason the Senators made it out of the first round.

Regardless, I think this game will set the tone for the rest of the series - very tight low-scoring games, where a single lucky bounce can decide the outcome. Still, I rather enjoyed the irony of the CBC intermission coverage discussing how teams were intentionally shooting the puck on Anderson from the goal line to try to get a lucky deflection, and then Karlsson ends the game on a lucky deflection from a shot taken right near the goal line.

Actually, he has a career playoffs of .923 which is average for playoffs standards... and last year was atrocious at .867! In his entire career, he's never even been close to the .948 he's currently sporting...
He's doing amazing so far this year but hopefully he can come back down to earth a bit...

Andy has a career playoffs of .933 with a .972 the last playoffs he played...

All in all, both goalies svpct for last night is unsustainable long term but if we keep peppering over 40 shots every game, we have a pretty good chance!
