I still say a sign and trade, involving the Devils getting picks/prospects is the best scenario for the Devils.

How bout this?

Kovalchuk and 2nd? to WSH for Johansson and Orlov

- Devils9503

Yeah send Ilya Kovalchuk to one of our division rivals...genius, may as well see if the rags want him too

I think I read somewhere that Orlov wanted to go back to the KHL after this season
- Senor_Elias

Damn I hope not. Big fan of him.

The caps might not be able to afford Kovi. They need sign 10+ guys next year to fill out their roster. Kuznetsov is going to get paid.

By the time we are competing again Kovalchuk most likely won't be a factor yet alone the reason why Washington would be winning a Cup

God no. He'll be fine. Power forwards tend to take a little longer to develop, too.

I'm talking about him being an assistant. There is no way they should have named him head coach when they did, he was not ready.
- FAZOOL

Maybe Johnny Mac could do a better job then Ryan Clowe on the assistant staff payroll but really no thanks. And I like Johnny Mac. He was a great player and good Devil until the trap marginalized him horribly. But that said I have zero faith in his coaching ability on an NHL level.

As a rebuilding mess of team it is very hard having coaches as unknown quantities. Honestly, I struggle to know if our D now stinks because of the players of the system. I think there is a lot to like about Hynes but it's hard to know if he's NHL quality or if the roster just blows. If we're hiring guys they should be pretty safe choices.

Who gives a sh!t if they are a rival. We would be addressing the offense and defense for the future at the same time.

If that is the best offer then Shero better accept it because it makes our team better now.

I think it was also because of his status on the team as well.

If it included Skjei and another young player/1st, then you bet your ass I'd trade him to the Rangers.

To me, he shouldn't be allowed back into the league unless he is playing for the devils and he should be taking a huge pay cut.

This is the leagues chance to show that they wont be push overs to players who want to leave for the KHL

Nobody cared that Sabotka did it earlier this year. Granted he wanted to play St. Louis, but the fact of the matter is the situation is almost the same. Get off your high horse.

I love Kovy, but Im sure we can do a 1-1 for one of the Avs' young studs... Or one of Tampa's kids that won't be resigned. Kovy is only 34, and his name carries a lot of weight. If we got Hall for Larsson, just imagine...

Don't take it so personally, Jesus. The guy did what he had to for his family, leave it at that. Everyone is on their own journey my friend.

The is that there is no way he agree's to sign a deal with a team like the Avs who just finished last by a country mile. He will be going to a team that has a legitimate shot at a cup or one that with the addition of him puts them over the top. We can't just pick any team and ask for their best pieces especially as nice as that would be lol The fact is he wants a stanley cup now so he likely isn't picking any team that missed the play offs this year unless it is L.A and we all know they have the horses to make the play offs and take a good run at it vs a team like us who miss and has no shot of either for a long while lol

I am getting used to this, McLeod goal and assist last night; 9/12 in FO wins. Steelheads win series.

Yeah I PVR'd the game and watched it. Good third period.

Watching both the west series and ignoring the east ones.

I like how they have him playing fearlessly and skating the puck in and barrelling the zone. He's still not an offensive d-man but he makes an impact on the game, whether he's grinding the ribs of forwards who beat him to the puck or clearing the front of the net or occasionally slinging in a game winner. He's a true 1b dman and Klefbom is looking like a star next to him. Andy Greene has passed on his teaching well

I think I've watched all of a few minutes watching him play live this year

If we're picking 5-8 I'm now leaning towards taking a Defenseman since talent in 4-15 range is pretty much the same

Johnny Mac had his shot and failed miserably. The fact that he's back on the Devils payroll, in any cpacity, is still mind-boggling to me.
- jersey1414

It's mind-boggling to me, too.
