Boy, you guys. Talk about homer glasses. Any of you Rags fans that think you're going to just walk over the Sens are in for a pretty phucking rude awakening. Have you not been paying attention?

Ahaha.. 5. That's walking all over and throwing the opposition a sympathy bone.

Someone apparently tweeted that our Boston series was separated by one goal for 306 of the 404 minutes played. That's 91% of the series. Like a giant sudden death overtime that lasted for 6 games. This series is gonna be the same and we're all going to age 10 years trying to watch it.

If either of these teams can win in 5 then they deserve it and you'll get no argument from me. It aint gonna happen though. it's going to be long and difficult and in the end, probably a coin-toss.

You can think what you want, but here in this Sens blog with these Ottawa fans, it's Sens in 6. Book it.

Getting ready for rodeo season actually.
Might mix in a little lawn darts as well as a
Spring sledding trip.
It's all good from where I sit.
Your window is closing in NY..........cupboards aren't exactly stocked........aging goalie and core.
You'd better hope this is the year old son.

please! Take off your homer glasses for just a second. Andersen is good but his body of work doesn't compare to hank. Did he have an off year absolutlely but the regular season doesn't mean much now. Take it easy with the stats against Boston missing 4 regulars all banged up and four of the six games went to ot. Yes sens won but against an inferior opponent.
- Bobd62

Perhaps you should also take it easy with the stats against a Canadiens team that is widely known to be among the streakiest teams in the NHL (hot or cold). Or did you think the fact that they traded Subban for Weber in the off-season, and then fired their coach mid-season while in first place was just for $hits and giggles? They're also widely known to be paper-thin down the middle, which is why they've already made a public declaration that Galchenyuk will be a winger next year. Centre depth is an advantage that the Rangers won't have over the Senators, and I don't think it's really in doubt what kind of impact that can have.

Whatever... maybe you think a .947 save% is more sustainable than Ryan and Brassard scoring at over a PPG pace, but personally I think they're all more likely than not to drift back towards the mean in the 2nd round. And in spite of Lundqvist playing his best hockey of the season, the difference in GAA between him and Anderson was nothing more than 1.70 vs. 1.94. To me that suggests that a very close series lies ahead, which apparently makes me a homer.

Really good write-up!! Apparently this series will also showcase two of the best bloggers HB has to offer!

I predict a long, tight series. That's all I'm willing to state. Of course, I want to say NY will win, but there's a lot of similarities between these teams. So, who knows.

Some pretty cocky viewpoints on both boards.

I will respond to a couple of points I read here, but please don't read any anger into my comments.

Calling Girardi a tire-fire is showing a lack of familiarity. He was God-awful last season when he was tired and beat up, but has had a really good season. He is back to the warrior he has been for most of his career. Staal and Holden on the other hand scare the crap out of me most times they're on the ice! I'm not sure what AV sees in them that the rest of us don't. Maybe I don't know your line up that well, but I see similar concerns for you whenever there isn't a defenseman named Karlsson on the ice.

I'm not sure I would call the goaltending battle even. I have nothing but respect for Anderson and his situation. And when he gets hot, it can last a couple hundred minutes. But, unless he IS at his best, the edge has to go to Hank. He has done enough that he should get the benefit of anyone's doubt.

Forward groups are both ridiculously deep. With the speed your forwards have, I am shocked that Ottawa plays a trap. Maybe that is to aid the 2nd and 3rd D pairs? IDK. I do like that we have a 20 goal scorer on every line, though.

And to the people inferring that the Rangers might intentionally try to injure Karlsson. Come on, man. We ain't the Flyers!!

Anyway, I expect a real battle for every inch. Enjoy!!

Oh, man, did I ever start a tire fire on the other thread. Trolling saying Karlsson > whole Rags d corps combined and they all bit. I have never laughed so hard at moral indignation in my life, and they even resorted to threatening me. Hilarious.

Rangers fans have no idea what they are about to face with this team being as close to fully healthy as they've been.

I respond with equivalent treatment to how people treat me. When the only answers you get back to your comments (which were to show how Rangers fans did not appreciate how elite Karlsson is, nothing more) are "youre an idiot", "suck my balls" and how I am the equivalent of human pond scum for thinking a different way, I'm gonna respond in kind.

Nothing personal, it's just hockey. It makes lil monsters out of all of us.

[quote=jimbro83]best part of that series

Hands down this is way better..Nothing greater then a Ranger getting mugged in his own building NYC style. It is even funnier now that he is a Leaf. I always remember Mclean shaking his hand after that

I'm not going to argue. I came here to give my politely give my honest appraisal and wish you guys luck.
I agree the responses you got from some of those guys were internet hostility, but I think your initial post was right on the line of being provoking:

Erik Karlsson Norris Nominations: 4

Erik Karlsson Norris Wins: 2

Norris nominations, entire current New York Rangers defence corps: 1

Norris wins, entire New York Rangers defence corps: 0

Therefore:

Erik Karlsson > Entire NYR defence corps combined.

Anyway, I hope I can come back periodically. Jared writes a really good blog.
