From San Jose's perspective, we have all seen, recently, what it looks like when a team is too late to realize their window has closed *cough*Canucks*cough*. It would be a marvelous trade for them. How long before they contend again, how valuable is a 28 point stay at home dman, 3, 4, 5 or more years from now?

If both of those were true then there's no way San Jose would think of moving him. Hell, they wouldn't even right now.

Depends what kind of a defense core they're developing by then and whether having a player that has been a top 5 d-man for +10 years is valuable to their development.

Couture was in bad shape this playoffs. He kept the sharks alive last year with his offense. Definitely worth another run.

A response to Glucks 'awful' reference. Halls numbers belied his propensity to go 1-on-4, fall down and cause odd man rushes. Still a great winger, but clearly the different direction taken was the correct. Don't forget, we still had a losing record last year even with Mcdavid in the lineup.

The rebuild is actually only 1 year - the Leafs were not expecting to make the playoffs this year - most fans were pretty satisfied that the second wildcard team, sporting 8 rookies took the best team in the NHL to six, with 5 games going to OT. How does it feel to root for a team that has NEVER won the cup? WOW! San Jose fans criticizing teams that have won 13 cups.
