It's so simple that you have difficulty naming a player. What do you think it would cost, and for how many years to sign Eaves? If not Eaves, then who? Shouldn't be hard to answer, it's not difficult. - MJL
Bonino jumps out at me as well. Justin Williams fits and can still play. I don't think any of those 3 would cost more than $3M max. Bonino would likely command a longer term at only 28.
But since we're in answering questions mode, how many goals are you inking in for Weal, Lindblom, Konecny, Weise, Laughton and Bellemare this year? |

Bonino is a 3rd line center who will get overpaid. Where do you think Justin Williams is going to want to play next year? On a team that might make the playoffs, or on a team that has a chance to contend?
Unless it's on a one year deal for money the Flyers can fit in on the cap, signing a significant UFA to a multi year contract is a ridiculously bad idea for where the Flyers are now as a team.
How much for Eaves, and for how many years?

I wouldn't even think of predicting that. |

If Weal, Lindbolm and Konecny all get top 9 minutes and can play 75 games:
Weal : 15
Lindbolm :15-20
Konecny : 15 - 20

They could use every bit of that. The guy I'm really not sold on is Weal. A .5 PPG guy over 20 games is not enough to convince me he can stick and produce. |

It's an exercise in futility. Who would've predicted the awful offensive season that Weise just had. Who would have predicted how poor of an offensive season Giroux just had |

If Weal doesn't stick and produce, not much lost. Low risk. |

Yet you are convinced that turning our most dynamic defenseman into a left winger, a position he hasn't played in at least 8 years, will lead to good production? |

Then somebody else needs to step up and produce. I suppose it's possible Read or Raffl could bounce back but no one should count on that either. |

Did I say that? I said it's an option if the UFA/trade route comes up empty.
I see some folks here suggesting Gostisbehere get traded for help up front. Do you like that idea? |

I think the problem with most people is they lack the knowledge of other players to pull a name out of thin air for who would be a good fit on the team. I know I am in that department. |

15 goals and maybe 15 assists is not a .5 ppg player I'd say that is fairly conservative |

Speak for yourself. I know this team plenty well and the rest of the league and the game in general just fine. The only thing I recognize is I'm just a fan, it's not my full time job to know all the details of which UFA might want what. My opinion is the Flyers need one and posted a list of UFA forwards. I had no difficulty coming up with names I liked in that list and the criticisms (oh, they're so expensive, they're all over 35) had no basis in fact. |

Weal = 12 pts in 23 games. 12 is 52.1739130434783% of 23.

For the record, yesterday, you said that converting him was option #2 after UFA, you never mentioned a trade so no, you didn't say that. |

If Weal can match that, I'd be doing cartwheels. I have doubts. He's also a UFA who needs to be resigned. |

Fair enough. The trade market has a lot of variables we can only speculate on. How you use players you already have on your team is completely under your control. |
