Exactly. Why not trade Gudas and MacDonald for picks and go Provorov, Gostisbehere, Sanheim, Hagg, Meyers and Morin on the blue line?
You know, I'd be OK with clearing the decks and letting all the kids play but they really aren't far from being a playoff team with the right tweak . . . so why not make the tweak? - fls13
Here's where you don't realize how close you are?
I see next seasons D group being
Prov-Amac
Gudas-Hagg
Morin-Ghost
Manning
Sanheim is first call up next year if someone gets hurt.
And they might even have to trade someone if Myers pulls a Provorov in camp next year. |

I know who they are. Who do YOU like?
There aren't many under 35 contracts on that list. |

With improvement he might move up from Fry Guy to Drive-Up SupaStar |

Time to move Sanheim to left wing. - jmatchett383
He has great open ice vision, why not center? |

Okay man... got ya. Which one?
I don't even want to argue about it. I'm just curious who you think fits here considering the youth movement and the over 35 contracts that we should honestly stay away from unless we can short deal it. |

Doesn't matter. I'd still use him on the point on the PP.
All I'm saying is status quo is not an option for the forwards. - fls13

I want a vet UFA forward in that spot, that's my top choice. Second choice is Hextall can pull off another steal and get that guy like he did with Filpulla. If all that comes up with nothing, experiment.
Too many hopefullys and WERE fines among the forward group. You've got 6 guys you can be reasonably sure of up front. That's it. - fls13
We need that vet UFA to push us into that true contender conversation for next season. |

Possibly? Lots of things are possible. Schenn is the only sure thing in that entire list and Simmonds and Vorecek are the only sure things on the right side. - fls13
We only need 15 goals from one of them! |

You want one name? Talk to Eaves. He's coming off a $1M deal, he popped 30+ this year, is 32 and his old man used to coach here.
There are guys out there. |

But he wants an established vet UFA to fill that hole. He better not hope if that happen the guy don't go all Dale Weise and play like crap until the last month of the season. |

I think the idea that the Flyers should go out and sign a high priced vet UFA for a top 9 role is absurd. |

All I've done is outline the changes I think need to be made. A 4th liner who can't put the puck in the ocean doesn't become a sniper because you give him Top 9 minutes. |

Fair enough.
I'm not sure how many guys there are out there.
Personally I'd rather look for a trade to acquire scoring up front because I'd like a more long term solution. |

Who said high-priced? The Flyers have cap space and can add a UFA. It's not that complicated. |

So Konecny is now a fourth liner who can't put the puck in the ocean... GOT IT.
And a guy who scored 22 goals in 52 Swedish League games is going to be a fourth liner...
And a guy who scored 21 and 13 goals in 2 seasons with the Flyers but was hurt for almost half the past year is now chopped liver. |

I think everyone is aware of the holes in the Flyers lineup. Where the disagreement is in how they should try and fill those holes. |

It's so simple that you have difficulty naming a player. What do you think it would cost, and for how many years to sign Eaves? If not Eaves, then who? Shouldn't be hard to answer, it's not difficult. |

A trade would be great but it's harder to discuss because we don't know what might be available and you have to give up to get. I don't see where the Flyers have any great, proven depth to offer up. There might be teams cap jammed who would make you an offer you can't refuse. That would be great, but trades are more complicated. |
