a big to all of you that critisized Marner during last few months, and in particular during his playoff games.
it was clear that something was up, and that he was not playing 100%.
so he had mono which apparently affected his play quite a bit and not a 'case of a rookie that doesn't know how to deal with less time and space in playoffs' (as per some 'experts' on here)

Go Leafs Go!

Put Marner on a decent line next season, and he'll get 80+ points

- MaximusAurelius

Meh. Everyone plays injured in the playoffs. If i have a poop month at work it was because I was injured and didn't tell anyone until I was criticised.

Christ, Bobby Ryan's been using this excuse for 4 years now

If he was it wasn't mono, you can't
do poop when you have a case of that poop
I got it when I was 18, there was no way I could have played any sport.
Unless there are different levels of illness.

nope.
alot in here said that he was too weak / too pencilnecky / too small to make a difference in playoffs.
only a few mentioned that he must be playing hurt (one ref mentioned that he read he had had strep throat).

- MaximusAurelius

That was me...not a ref though.

You know how hard it must have been for him to keep playing. That poop is brutal.

Wait.....you know what this means.....he can do EVEN better next season when he's healthy and a summer of working out. Holy poop!!!

(Healthy, he might have helped us past the Caps too. Each game was a one goal game. Average out his PPG and put them in the playoffs...could've gotten us a win or two.)

I was shocked to hear that. One of my cousins had that in high school and he couldn't do anything for 3 months.

I was bed ridden for about 5 days with a high fever, not sure what I could have been pumped up with.
Took a couple of months to get my full energy back.

I was up and about after about a week, but I had about half my normal energy level

So they die in a treatment room waiting for a doctor instead of in the hallway like the average Canadian??

Look back homie, I originally heard it was strep throat and posted it.

I read your post about his illness after.

Either way, it explains a lot. And good for Marner for being a trooper and fighting through it. Shows huge character. I can barely get off the couch with a little cold.
