I'm very happy for LeBrun and Burnside, and even happier for me. ESPN hates hockey, and I hate ESPN. I'm looking forward to perhaps seeing one or both on the NHL Network. They'll both get snatched up very quickly, I am sure. - Doc_Sarcasm
Yeah, NHL network would be a good spot for them. Maybe NBC also, especially if it means getting rid of McGuire |

Anyone here the Babcock interview on Overdrive yesterday. He said that Marner had mono this year. Did I hear that right? |

I will be writing more about it this week, but I think the Leafs are going to be looking for situations like Vlasic in SJ or Ekman-Larsson in AZ where they can acquire a top pairing defenseman for prospects and/or draft picks.
The Leafs have depth on the wings and can afford to move Nylander or Kapanen for the right guy. |

How are OEL and Vlasic in the same situation exactly?
Hell I don't think Nylander would be enough to convince AZ to trade their best player.
Vlasic is a more realistic option, but one I wouldn't trade Nylander for. |

The talk back before the draft was that AZ wouldn't move OEL even if it meant getting the pick for Matthews. There's not a chance they would consider any price that we would want to pay. |

Exactly.
Though I'm sure they'd have traded OEL for Matthews.... at least they would now imo. |

Now, for sure they would.
As for the Leafs, they need to target folks like Manson imo, though I wouldn't be opposed to getting a lower line guy like Schlenko to fill in the 3LD spot and make us better on the bottom end. |

So would this D line up look good to you:
Rielly, Manson
Gard, Zaits
Schlenko, Polak
Seriously curious because I want to know what people really think of this Manson kid. |

Leafs have depth on the wings, no doubt, but there is no way this team starts trading rookie, ELC pieces like Nylander OR Kapanen.
Leipsic, Leivo, Sosh, Rychel...maybe...but I don't see them, and hope, they aren't trading the talent that finally took us to the playoffs.
JVR and a 1st round pick should go before any rookie, even the othe 4 listed above. IMO. |

Willie is off limits.
We would look pretty stupid when Nylander is 24 scroing 75+ points a season and we have a 35 year old d man playing 2nd pairing mins.
Marner, Matthews and Nylander are off limts...anyone else sure, they will listen |

i don't think any of these guys are worth a 1st round pick or are worth keeping over jvr.
to me, kapanen is expendable in a trade for a good dman.
i would trade nylander for a dman ... but it would have to be jones/johanssen type deal. i don't see one out there right now. |

If the Leafs management cant improve the Defence without sending Nylander the other way they are not doing a very good Job

If Nylander were moved for Dman, it would be a young top end stud.
But I would think Leafs arent too interested in moving Nylander and another team wouldnt be interested in moving a young top end stud. |

But having Nylander on the 2nd line along with Oshie on the 1st would look even better.
But Oshie may be too expensive |
